Anyone heard of this impending change?

I know a lot of professors, some of them from UTSA since I live in San Antonio. One of them told me that a new directive from the UT System came in. All UT schools will now only go by the UT-Campus Location, no more acronyms. This professor told me all new promotional materials, literature, etc. now have to say UT-San Antonio, no more UTSA. Allegedly all UT schools must follow suit. except UT-Austin of course they can go by UT or Texas.

Aside from the cost of rebranding, I don't see much of a problem for the other schools; UTRGV, UTD, UT-Arlington, UTPB. They don't roll of the tongue like UTEP and to a lesser extent UTSA. If this is true, what happens to the iconic pickaxe, UTEP logo, the UTEP helmets? I wasn't told the timeline of when this has to be implemented by.

I never said why doesn't UT
Austin give UT El Paso Money. I look at it like this, The UT System is the Mothership, UT Austin is 1st in command. While UT EL Paso, San Antonio, Dallas and others, are the smaller ships. UT Austin net Worth is at around 13 billion. The University of Texas System net worth is at 47.5 billion. That's way more than GCU. So what I'm saying is Utep doesn't need to borrow from UT Austin. I bet you Utep has more money than they say they do. They just being cheap and don't want to share to the players. If The UT System is at 47.5 billion, what do you think is Uteps share??

For sports, NCAA has given UTEP specific allowance/compliance to use "UTEP".
