I remember back in the 90's when I started attending some UTEP basketball games, the men's program was very competitive, a winning program, some NCAA and NIT's appearances, while the women's program under Sandra Rushing was a disaster with most of the times just one win in a season or non at all.

Now these days is the other way around, the men's program is a complete and total disaster, Tim Floyd in his fifth year has accomplished nothing, nada, the best he has done was to win the Corpus Christi tournament and that's it. While the Women's program is a complete success under coach Adams, I think we should support them the way they deserve by attending more games and even talking and discussing women's hoops. That until they let go of Floyd because he is not going anywhere with the program, he cannot coach, he's arrogant etc. It's unbelievable that some people here on this forum keep on saying that next year, and next year, and next year, YEAH RIGHT!!!

Time to bring a new coach.

Buy season tickets to women's basketball, then.

UTEP's women's coach is Keitha Adams, not Green.

That was the 90's move on... It's 2016 we need to stop comparing all our teams to Haskins' teams and what Haskins would have done. Bla bla bla all that is irrelevant. Live in the now. Which, unfortunately, we suck right now and I for one will always be at the games. Win or lose I'm a fan and will never give up support.

Have to agree to a point, we have a nice history as a program but it does little to address the here and now. The world of college sports has changed many times over in the last fifty. Coaches play a more "assemblers of talent" role than the development of talent role they did before. I think this is a issue with this team now. Most successful programs in UTEP's peer group (not in a major conference and supporting a football program in addition to basketball) have key elements in their programs and the bread an butter is workman type players not * stars. The high talent/high reward model we seem to emulating at UTEP is not working for us. Floyd recruits talent and at a high level, but this team we have now is just that, an assembly of talent. We lost to a group a players yesterday who likely had way less talent, but played to win not to pad their averages, make the highlight play of the game etc. In our little world of basketball the workman types like the UTSA's and MTSU's of the conference will trump our stars most times. In fact our "history" is workman types not JC All Americans or 4*. Our roots are kids from the playground who nobody noticed, kids who loved to play for the sake of playing, kids who came to get a college degree AND play hard and Kids who are winners. Not kids who quit their HS teams, got kicked off their JC team or who have been to 3 schools in 3 years and have 4* resumes or were "wanted" by every school in the country only to sign with us for some odd reason.

Question for Alvino...how many Lady Miner BB games have you actually gone to this year, and how much support did you give them last year when they were 12-16? You seem pretty bandwagon and I seem to remember you disparaging women's sports right along side one of our former disgraced members. Just asking.
