He had an average day on the first day of the G League Elite Camp, but had a phenomenal second day that scored him an invite to the Combine.

He did graduate last year. He has a degree from UTEP and spent more time at UTEP than he did at any other school. Too bad he did not go to the NBA coming out of UTEP.
Just saying...Williams is listed as a super senior on Texas Tech athletics as well as his wiki page (not a graduate transfer).

Well, the news at the time reported that he was a grad transfer.

And last but not least:

The 6-foot-8 Williams, who has professional prospects as a forward, averaged 15.1 points and 7.4 rebounds this year as a fifth-year senior, but like all NCAA players has the option for a free season because of the COVID situation. As a projected graduate he would not have to sit out next season.
Perhaps those news outlets had it wrong, in which case shame on them. With the new transfer rules, I'm not sure whether or not, as a sixth-year player who had already transferred, he was eligible to benefit from the one-time transfer rule. But I do know that grad transfers don't have to sit out a year.

He was able to benefit because of the Covid transfer rules.

He was able to benefit because of the Covid transfer rules.
He was able to play an extra year because of the bonus COVID year. But I'm not aware of special "Covid transfer rules."

From what I can tell, a player who has previously transferred cannot benefit from the one-time transfer rule:

http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/eligibility_center/Transfer/OneTime_Transfer.pdf

In order to meet the criteria of the one-time transfer exception, the student-athlete must:
»Transfer from a four-year collegiate institution to an NCAA Division I school;
»Leave their current four-year school academically eligible;
»Have not transferred previously from another four-year institution, and
»Certify in writing, along with their new head coach, they did not have direct or indirect communication with the new school’s athletics staff prior to entering the NCAA Transfer Portal.

He also played at Fresno St, so I guess all 3 schools can claim him? But at the end of the day I believe he is the one who decides to claim.

Lol 🤣 Exactly As far as I'm concerned if a player leaves UTEP to play at another school and gets drafted we don't take an credit and we sure aren't given any recognition for it.

Yes he did. Utep athletics even posted it when he got his degree May of 2021
Tried to look for the story, but I dont see it. Please post.

I also looked at the commencement list for May 2021 and it's too long to go through. Do you happen to know in what subject he received his bachelor's degree?

“'My journey has given me a lot of unique life lessons,' says Williams who earned his bachelor’s degree at UTEP and is now pursuing a master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies.“

Thanks for the correction.

So Boum and Kennedy are also alums? If any of them make the NBA, they also count for UTEP?
