He had an average day on the first day of the G League Elite Camp, but had a phenomenal second day that scored him an invite to the Combine.

He is considered a Texas Tech player. If he makes the NBA , they wont consider him an Utep alum. Did he graduate at Utep?He had an average day on the first day of the G League Elite Camp, but had a phenomenal second day that scored him an invite to the Combine.
He was a grad transfer, so yes, he graduated from UTEP. He definitely counts as an alumnus. He is considered a Texas Tech player. If he makes the NBA , they wont consider him an Utep alum. Did he graduate at Utep?
It was the Covid year that he got back. I dont think he was a grad transfer, but you may be correct. He was a grad transfer, so yes, he graduated from UTEP. He definitely counts as an alumnus.
He did graduate last year. He has a degree from UTEP and spent more time at UTEP than he did at any other school. Too bad he did not go to the NBA coming out of UTEP.It was the Covid year that he got back. I dont think he was a grad transfer, but you may be correct.
Just saying...Williams is listed as a super senior on Texas Tech athletics as well as his wiki page (not a graduate transfer). He did graduate last year. He has a degree from UTEP and spent more time at UTEP than he did at any other school. Too bad he did not go to the NBA coming out of UTEP.

Well, the news at the time reported that he was a grad transfer.Just saying...Williams is listed as a super senior on Texas Tech athletics as well as his wiki page (not a graduate transfer).
Perhaps those news outlets had it wrong, in which case shame on them. With the new transfer rules, I'm not sure whether or not, as a sixth-year player who had already transferred, he was eligible to benefit from the one-time transfer rule. But I do know that grad transfers don't have to sit out a year. The 6-foot-8 Williams, who has professional prospects as a forward, averaged 15.1 points and 7.4 rebounds this year as a fifth-year senior, but like all NCAA players has the option for a free season because of the COVID situation. As a projected graduate he would not have to sit out next season.

He was able to play an extra year because of the bonus COVID year. But I'm not aware of special "Covid transfer rules."He was able to benefit because of the Covid transfer rules.
Lol 🤣 Exactly As far as I'm concerned if a player leaves UTEP to play at another school and gets drafted we don't take an credit and we sure aren't given any recognition for it.He also played at Fresno St, so I guess all 3 schools can claim him? But at the end of the day I believe he is the one who decides to claim.
Yes he did. Utep athletics even posted it when he got his degree May of 2021He didn't graduate from UTEP.
“'My journey has given me a lot of unique life lessons,' says Williams who earned his bachelor’s degree at UTEP and is now pursuing a master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies.“He didn't graduate from UTEP.

From what I can tell, a player who has previously transferred cannot benefit from the one-time transfer rule:
http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/eligibility_center/Transfer/OneTime_Transfer.pdf
In order to meet the criteria of the one-time transfer exception, the student-athlete must:»Transfer from a four-year collegiate institution to an NCAA Division I school;»Leave their current four-year school academically eligible;»Have not transferred previously from another four-year institution, and»Certify in writing, along with their new head coach, they did not have direct or indirect communication with the new school’s athletics staff prior to entering the NCAA Transfer Portal.

An alumnus is a former student, not necessarily a graduate. So Boum and Kennedy are also alums? If any of them make the NBA, they also count for UTEP?
But Boum did graduate. An alumnus is a former student, not necessarily a graduate.
It’s on the basketball instagram from May 2021.Tried to look for the story, but I dont see it. Please post.
I also looked at the commencement list for May 2021 and it's too long to go through. Do you happen to know in what subject he received his bachelor's degree?
I saw Tydus and BW (anthropology and multidisciplinary studies). I still wonder why he is a super senior. Anyway, I glad he is getting a shot. He deserves it!It’s on the basketball instagram from May 2021.
Because he was playing for a fifth season in his sixth year. I think, in this case, it's a comment on his remaining eligibility, not his graduation status.I still wonder why he is a super senior.
And? I didn't say that he wasn't an alumnus. But Boum did graduate.
