Bryson going to the Sweet 16! As much as it sucks for us, he made a good decision for himself.

SEC also had a weak overall OOC schedule similar to most Crap 10 teams. Not surprising when only 1 advances to the Sweet 16 out of 7. Another conference where you do not take more than 2 to advance into the Sweet 16 when filling out your bracket.
Iowa State beat Oregon St, Xavier, Memphis, Creighton, Iowa, and Ole Miss. No losses OOC. Decent OOC schedule. That definitely helped.
Wait till you see Fresno State if they play the Miners. They have two 7 footers that play at the same time.
Yes Robinson is a beast. CRT recruit Meah is still a work in progress, but a big man.
Iowa State is one of 3 teams I follow “religiously”. ISU started 12-0, then lost 12 of their next 19. Sometimes not even surpassing the 40s score wise, and even finished with 36 points in a game. THIRTY SIX!! They are majorly challenged offensively speaking.
It is absolutely surprising to me they got past Wisconsin and into the round of 16.
Still, one of the all time great turnarounds tho, as they finished 2-24(?) last year.
Both schools can both fly a kite but damn, that has to be one of the best college games I have seen. What a freaking battle! (But doesn’t outmatch that ‘87 game).
Yes, but all that was in one of the toughest, if not the toughest conference this year. If they played in the Big 10, they may have run right through it.
That is why it is important to look at the OOC games the teams played, and compare them with the other teams OOC in the same conference. You are going to take a beating within the Big 12.
They haven't missed on a coaching hire since Henson retired. They've built a top 10 mid major program. Seems like an attractive job. In CUSA 3.0 as of right now I still put them as the #1 hoops program. It's a one bid league the conference tourney will be tougher. I think their trips to the NCAA tourney will be reduced. I could still see them going to to the tourney 5 out of 10 years. It may help going from a basketball centric conference to football centric conference.
I dont know. They are losing a lot. I wonder if Allen has another year? If he graduated he may be gone too. Agree that the next coaching hire will be critical for continued success, but I'm not sure they can just reload this time.
CUSA coaches leaving for AAC jobs. I kind of understand the LT to Tulsa move. The UNT to SMU move must be embarrassing for the Denton folks.

MTSU vs ACU on espn 2 tonight. That could have been a fun matchup for UTEP and ACU fans if UTEP had made the CBI semis.

I agree. It would likely take a Jans like run of success for Golding to make the jump to P5.
Fan support is about the same. Money must not be too far off. My guess would be that he wants to live and work in actual Dallas. I think he'll stay at SMU for a long time since he has a lot of connections and family in the area.
Hopefully we don't lose him to another g5 team if he has success but not at the level a P5 wants to see.
I think losing him to another G5 school is more likely, similar to McCasland and Konkol. UTEP is unfortunately at/near the bottom rung out of the G5 conferences. Coaches with good success at this level will continue to get picked off.
The money is not close. SMU paid Larry 2.8 million a year. SMU'S facilities are far superior to UNT's. When the Ponies are winning Moody coliseum is one of the better atmospheres in college basketball. SMU is a great hoops job. You can win a national championship at SMU you can't at UNT.
Yeah a school with 3 tourney appearances since 1988 and no wins is capable of winning the national championship. Good one!!
Keep up with the times. SMU is considered a top twenty jo by college basketball insiders. They have great facilities. They can sell Dallas. The biggest new factor NIL. SMU is ready to capitalize on NIL. If they aren't a perrenial top 25 program it's because their administration horrifically bungles this hire.

Jankovich was making 2 million. UNT will counter offer and give McCasland a raise. We still don't know how much McCasland would make at SMU. Once it's all said and done don't be surprised if his salary at SMU isn't much higher than what UNT is willing to pay.
Based on ESPN site, both Allen and Jabari Rice are listed as Juniors.
Yeah Im just not sure where Allen stands with his transfer capacity. I would think his only option is to stay, but who knows.
