CUSA looking at cost cutting measures

This guy is a jag off. He also said he thinks CUSA should add 2 basketball only members. He then mentioned Stetson and North Florida. Two garbage programs in Florida

I imagine Texas’s first game they will want to drop is UTEP.

I guess we will get 8 conference games and nmsu. Good chance to go 3-6 on the season.

One measure this sports writer mentions is if a full football season can't be played, play just 9 games with 8 conference and one OOC game. If that came be, which OOC game would you want UTEP to keep; Texas Tech, at Nevada, at Texas or NMSU.
UTEP should always play NMSU. They are our rival, our only official rival. We should always play.

If it comes down to it, UTEP should forfeit one of its CUSA games and still play NMSU, so they only play 7 conference games and 2 OOC games.

If this bush league implements such cost-cutting measures, then UTEP can do with one less conference game from this bush league, asking us whether to choose between dropping our rivalry game or our home game against a Power 5 team.

The big 12 wants to do something similar. Do you think Texas would want to keep our date or the LSU game?

The Texas game is a big money game for UTEP so that would be my guess.
Not gonna happen. Let Madden auto play fulfill your need and make sure you have a porn buddy.

Well, the UTEP game is a home game and they can make a few million dollars. The LSU game is a road game and they won't make a penny. After travel costs they will lose money. Money matters this year more than ever.

That's ludicrous. NMSU is a propped up non existent rivalry. Forfeiting a league game is a good way to get kicked out of a conference.

Name one UTSA game that had better attendance than a NMSU game, was played for something meaningful, and you remember being good, filled with intensity.

All the games vs UTSA are more meaningful they're conference games. They have big ramifications for recruiting and politics inside the UT system.

In hoops the crowds are smaller but are much nastier than an NMSU game. We are usually their biggest draw in hoops and football outside of p5 home games.

The NMSU games are meaningless. The infatuation this school has with NMSU is one of the reasons we've been left behind by other schools and now have UTSA as our defacto rival. It's not of the biggest reasons buts it a factor.

LOL! Yeah, it's NMSU's fault that UTEP sucks! That's a new one!

UTSA had 1,684 to their Saturday night UTEP home game this year. They had 1,576 for Western Kentucky for a Saturday night home game as well. So about 100 people more went to the UTEP game. I know for a fact that a lot of UTEP fans go to the UTSA game in San Antonio. I would say the amount of WKU fans attending the UTSA game in SA is really small.

The games mean nothing. Maybe @JCorona can confirm, as I have never been there; but I would say the crowds in SA are far from nasty.

Why keep NMSU on our schedule?

1.Rivalry...sure ok.
2. Is it because its the one game we usually have a chance to win?

I believe its a combination leaning more to #2 than anything else as we generally have the better athletes and coaches overall.
History of the Battle of I10.
UTEP 57WINS(.598)
2TIES
NMSU 38WINS(.402

Does anyone remember the year Coach/AD Stull decided not to play the Aggies?

Some people were upset but it really didn't hurt UTEP in the long run.
I would vote to keep the TT game if it came down to a rehashing of our OOC schedule. That is if TT would want to keep us on their OOC schedule as well.

Picks Up!!

Yes, because Stull tried to bully NMSU into playing their home games at the Sun Bowl. NMSU called his bluff, they didn't play each other one season, and then UTEP gave in and the status quo was restored, because it hurts both schools if UTEP doesn't play NMSU. It was one of the stupidest, most arrogant things Stull ever did.

I guess for a high school crowd it could be considered “nasty.” The UTEP road crowds at conference Texas schools aren’t as good as they use to be when UH and SMU were in the conference. This year we had the numbers at UNT and UH to have a “nasty” crowd but unfortunately the team could never start/complete the comeback.

As far as our rival I think NMSU is still our biggest rival. This year it was our most attended game of the season. The UTSA game drew half the crowd that nmsu did. Are we nmsu’s biggest rival? Probably not. They had 7k for us in LC. Just a regular night for them. If they wanted to they could say Rio Grande Valley is a bigger rival since they drew 12k vs them.

Come on man. NMSU has sold out games vs Chicago St before. UNM is NMSUs biggest rival and UTEP is #2. UTRGV isn’t even close to UTEP. They sellout games because they have these things called promotions and do this thing called winning.

Oh ok. I think the NMSU/UTRGV rivalry is on the same level as UTEP/UTSA.
