After the Floyd years, I just wanted a coach who would develop the players he had and avoid the turnover of half the team each season.

So Terry comes in, runs off the team's leading scorer from last season who's apparently good enough to start for NMSU, and now it looks like half the team is transferring. It's all the same crap. Year three and we're already rebuilding, and we'll always be rebuilding like Floyd because half the team leaves each season.

Maybe things have changed so much since the Barbee days (transfer epidemic, etc.) that it's not possible to build a team anymore with four-year starters. If that's the case, then, the coach has to bring in better transfers than those who leave. But he ran off the team's leading scorer because he needed room for Vila.

There’s two NMSU players on the transfer list - Robert Brown and Jihuan Westbrook. I don’t remember those guys at all. North Texas and LaTech have 0.

I guess UTEP’s “peers” seem to be doing fine regarding transfers, but not UTEP. Why don’t players leave those schools???????

My guess is that players like sticking around a program that is winning ships.

Wichita State won 23 games this past season and has 7 players in the transfer portal. Winning isn’t everything. LaTech hasn’t been to the NCAAs since 1991 and has no “ships” since 2015. Try again.

not gonna happen

Senter is not the right man for this level of D1 sports, period. Blame him. Terry is using political tactfulness during this transfer spring period and just giving the local media a word salad commentary heavy on the fattest cool ranch you can add, F the light balsamic vinaigrette stuff. I read what Bigwood stated from Terry's commentary in a thread in a previous post and I was like "Wha.....?"

But I am in the Unihorn boat, I am giving him another year if and when that happens.

A thing I heard about basketball teams is they need defined roles. 1 alpha. 2-4 guys who know they're always going to play in crunch time. 2-4 guys who have one job when they play and they're okay with having one job. The rest just happy to be on the team.

My feeling is this team didn't have that.

Two of the three teams you mentioned won conference titles. The other team finished in second and was the favorite to win the conference tournament. Use better examples and try again.

Wichita State didn’t win the AAC, nor did LaTech win CUSA. WSU won 23 games and had 7 guys transfer. LaTech hasn’t had any yet. Didn’t know “being a favorite to win a conference tournament” is something to hang your hat on. Which sportsbook named the team you’re referring to as “the favorite”?

You pulled Wichita St out of your ass. That team wasn’t mentioned in your original comment that I responded to. The point is LT could have very well ended their ncaat drought this year. They had a championship caliber team and had already proved they could beat UNT in DFW. Idk google it.

Greg Foster is still interested in coaching at UTEP. He wanted the job 2 years ago. Meanwhile he has coached Giannis Antetukumpo, John Collins and now gets Clint Capela too.

Doesn’t mean he can recruit or coach a whole team. Penny Hardaway is a good recruiter, but look how his team did as the season went on.

The silence is deafening from the athletic department. Guess they consider this normal day to day business. Chaos!

This is starting to look like a bad terrorist hit job where the knuckleheads blow themselves up out of their own tunnel vision zealotry.

UTEP did announce the signings of Hess and Agnew today; likely to attempt to offset the news of all the transfer departures, which came out from external sources. I don't think they ever announced the early signees, McGriff and Onyema. Again, it shows how UTEP is able to control information flow; which is unprecedented for a major university.

I hate it too but just FYI:

UAB just lost their 9th transfer today so we are not even tops in CUSA!
UTEP 6
Charlotte 5
Marshall, USM, UTSA, Rice 3 (Trey Murphy transferred up to UVA)
ODU, WK, North Texas 2 (Umoja Gibdon transferred up to OU)

Fresno St 6

Somebody mentioned earlier that Witchita State had a ton too. UNM has lost a ton.

Those are just the schools I counted.
