Did Arizona have a bumper crop of recruits this year?

Texas has a bumper crop every year and so much so that the smaller division schools can land good players from Texas.

But reading state write up on AZ players and UTEP landing several it just makes me wonder?

It could be more media saturation, districts putting more emphasis on sports coaching, both or demographic shifts in the suburbs of AZ cities (I.E. demographic shifts in East El Paso that's had benefited far East side high schools).

Price recruited AZ, had camps there. I’m not surprised since Phoenix is closer to ELP than DFW/Houston.

Wouldn’t be surprised if some came from Cali originally and then grew up in AZ.

UTEP has had a few success in ARIZ for quite a while, Fred Carr was from Phoenix. IMO Arizona offers a better recruiting opportunity for UTEP. Not as big a culture shift for players, in most cases closer and I don't think Arizona gets picked over like Texas. I know Texas produces loads of talent, but many schools hit Texas for recruiting and not just instate, Big 10, SEC and have deep fingers into TX HS football. Competition for talent is tough. 90% of all division 1 football players sign with a school within 500 miles of home and this leaves UTEP just outside DFW and Houston recruiting windows. Arizona likely doesn't have the wealth of players as does Texas but they might be easier to identify and recruit.
