FAU is tonight. They are sitting on top of the CUSA east division. A win would be be very nice.
Miners should be heavily favored to beat FIU on Saturday night. Should give Golding a chance to go deep on the bench and help get the team ready for a mid February trip to play 3 tough games in 5 days against Middle, LaTech and Southern Miss.
I roundly pick us to win both games. FAU by 7 and FIU by 13.
Attendance: 7654 tonight and 7890 on Saturday.

Don't know what it is about these two schools but I can never see them as legit. I know they have beaten us the last few years but I have 0 interest in seeing them and little respect for them. Is it the HS gyms they play in or the 240 fans in attendance at their games? I feel UTEP is just a way better program and should never lose to them under any circumstances. I will be at the games and we should beat both, if we don't it will serve as a stark reminder of how far we have fallen as a program.

UCF used to be the same then moved to the AAC and really improved. May be the same case once FIU moves. With that said, you're correct these teams have never made waves in CUSA or scared anyone, but they can't beat decent teams occasionally.

Legit or not, we’ve struggled mightily against the Owls. We are 0-4 against FAU the last four meetings. FIU, we’ve fared better against in that time span.

With that said, we “should” beat both. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if we split though.

Looks like UTSA just got their two top scorers back that did not see action against us. So for once this season, luck was on our side with that scheduling. UTSA’s top scorer that left the team before conference play to go pro, decided that he made the wrong decision and is back with the team. I can’t even make that kind of stuff up.

If we get Kennedy back early Feb I think this team can make a run for top 4 or 5 in conference USA tourney and have a chance to at least let us hope a little.

I agree with that. I think we'll have a better idea as of next Thursday after the UNT game, but I think top 4 is within our grasp.

UAB, LaTech and UNT seem to be top tier. Then it's anybody's guess for the next 3 spots or so.

Agree, but unfortunately I don't think we can get very far the way our front line is set up now (hope I'm wrong). My thought is that we can be good enough to attract a really talented big to join our team for next season. Then....

I agree as well. The caveat is that there are several teams that could contend for the spots after the top tier. The talent level between these teams is very close from top to bottom.

That's a good point, I agree that hurts us. If I had to guess we finish reg season 16-14 maybe 17-13 at best 18-12 win a game in tourney and go to CBI for a jump on next year. Next year we get ourselves a Dominant Big and one more shooter and don't lose Bienemy, Boum or Kennedy and we're in business!

I dont think we lose any of our major players since they already went through the coaching change and are seeing progression.
