Football Recruiting

UW really wanted him.

"While Emeka Megwa checked out of the University of Washington football program this weekend, the Huskies offered scholarship to Mike Franklin, another power back from the California junior-college ranks.

An Alabama native, the 6-foot-2, 225-pound Franklin rushed for 898 yards and 8 touchdowns in eight games, averaging 6.6 yards per carry, for a 10-1 Contra Costa College team in San Pablo.

He also caught a dozen passes for another 133 yards, showing the versatility that Husky coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff require in a focus back. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining."

"In addition to his offer from Washington, Franklin also has an offer from San Jose State and he said Cal, UCLA and Fresno State have also said they are very interested.

"I'm still waiting on Cal because they said they were going to offer me and Fresno State and UCLA too," Franklin said. "A lot of schools are interested in me, but I think they want to see how I've (progressed) this offseason.""

Very talented RB our of Daphne, Alabama where he appears he started as a sophomore on the 6A team (Alabama goes up to 7A). Memphis appears to have been all over this team as they offered him and a couple others on his team back in '17.

Interesting. We typically don't win those recruiting battles.

That has definitely been the strength of Dimels tenure... his ability to recruit to el paso. It's been working out with the JUCOs... if only Dimel didn't suck as a GameDay coach.

Hopefully he can push for the starting job. We need a RB that is not only willing to pass block, but is actually good at it.

Call me cynical, but how the hell did we end up with this kid? Especially with what offers were on the table…and what offers lay in waiting.
