I can’t stand the guy and his ilk and haven’t since late 80s and I am not saying to do a coup of NCAA regulations and requirements and see what falls out but UTEP in a watered down CUSA does not bode well for either of the schools. Don’t bring in a washed out NCAA guru (Guilliani personality) but top legal minds to ask “yeah, but what if you don’t try this (legal) route? Don’t know until you try? Right”.
That’s MAGA, light a match to the dry tinder and gain power in the mid to long run. A “scorched earth” but with “no fear” minds.
-Offer more money for entrance (you don’t have now but will later, allegedly).
-Offer the Sun Bowl behind their back even though UTEP has no legal rights? Eminent Domain is a helluva entity drug for powerful folks.
-Sell the Hispanic El Paso market like Miami-Dade GOP offers their Cuban voters as “the path forward” for electoral power. Works every 4 years for them.
-Subsidized basketball tourney revenue. Promise upfront cash wherever the tourney is held.
-Promise EPIA will eventually become a “hub”. More airlines into the airport mean better rates for colleges traveling into El Paso.
-Make the city put on paper the willingness to not only offer better hotel rates, but lodging and meals. If a home mortgage lender can offer a 4 month behind on payments reamortization for a home owner, offer budget programs to make El Paso attractive.
-Zero interest loans with no limits. Boise and SDSU doesn’t want UTEP? Offer 1st night free travel.
