Does anyone think FAU will hire a coach who went winless earlier in his career and hasn’t been a head coach for 15 years?

Don’t forget about a 5 year plan which includes 2, 1 win seasons. Which the first one doesn’t really count.
FAU is in a completely different geographic and demographic dynamic as opposed to El Paso. Florida has a lot to offer, so long as the seas don't rise too quickly. FAU will be fine without Kiffin; he's Ole Miss's problem now - dude's a gypsy with serious skills passing through wherever he goes making a decent buck. Ole Miss will be in Kiffin's rearview mirror in a couple or three seasons.
Lane Kiffin leaves a HC position at FAU and takes a new job immediately after the regular season championship game, he won't be coaching FAU's meaningless bowl game.
When Dimel was hired at UTEP he chose continue as an OC at Kansas State in a meaningless bowl instead of taking over head coaching duties... this is our coach.

Aside from all the division titles, conference championships, and bowl wins the best thing Kiffen did for FAU is sign the contract with the four million dollar buyout. Good chunk of change to hire a good coach and continue the success.
And to think that prior to Kiffen FAU was going life and death at home against a Kugler team. What a difference a coaching hire will make.

FAU is a relatively new school, is lucky to get 10,000 for their games, built a new stadium about 10 years ago, but still has “Kiffin” money. Not UTEP though. Despite year over year increase in enrollment for a decade plus, UTEP “doesn’t have the money” to get rid of dumb Dimel.
