Honestly most of us expected Utep to be 0-2. The disappointing part is how they're first two showings have gone, especially defensively. I know I had a lot of excitement coming into the season, because it seemed that Kugler had enough to build on from last year to be successful. The loss of Jones showed that this coaching staff did not prepare this team offensively for life without Jones. The team had no clue what to do after he went down and hopefully they figure it out, cause he'll most likely be out the next 4 or 5 games. Even though Leftwhich hasn't been awful, I'm not sire if he's the QB of the future. I really think Simpson would've got the start had he not got hurt and also had a bad attitude (so I've heard) If the coaching staff didn't believe in the QBs on scholarship then they should've picked up a JC QB.If they do have confidence, then open up the playbook for God Sakes! Our secondary is honestly the worst in College Football at this point, but that's due in part to injuries and having to play true Freshman, that just aren't ready. On the positive, Kugler is a Motivator and this team turned things around after La Tech last year, if they want even a chance at a bowl they have to win against NMSU! A loss will mean a potential 1-11 season and complete utter step back from last year! In my opinion Autrey Golden should be moved back to RB while Jones is out, he is a play maker and we need him to be more apart of our offense. Also keep throwing to Tight Ends, they were the only ones I saw last week that were still playing hard offensively!

Those are all great ideas and I'm pained to even disagree, because you're right, on all counts.

I'd totally agree with moving Golden back to the RB if we ran a system that worked for him (spread). Golden isn't going to last sending him on dive play after dive play. But moving him back to RB is great idea.

They need to spread the ball around. Force feeding the TE's isn't the answer and leaves us one dimensional again. This team has three WRs up front that need to be able to contribute more than being window dressing. Higgins is doing a disservice to the offense by limiting it to one RB and maybe now, a TE. If you're not going to use any of these WRs then let them transfer and run the wishbone.

I've heard the same thing about Simpson and his attitude, but in some ways I don't blame him. He outperformed Left during the spring and from the reports I read, at camp too.

LA Dowell moving back to RB per Kuglers press conference.

Personally I think we should roll w/ Metz at QB It's been said here before, "Has an Andress player ever let us down?" Good arm, good mechanics/throwing motion, good athlete.

Bring Mike Price in as in adviser to help with the offense and passing game, the miners definitely need all the help they can get. OK OK that was a joke, but they definitely need to retool the offense to the players available. Might need to go no-huddle for a while to change the tempo, and hit short passes to move the chains. Aaron Jones is injured so NEXT MAN UP!

The thing I hate is that this staff keeps shuffling players from position to position as the season progresses. Autrey Golden to WR, Brandon Moss from punter to WR to DB and now Dowell from RB to DB now back to RB. I know I have forgotten a couple but I don't see how switching a player mid season is any help. I'm sure it's going to be difficult for them to get the scheme and techniques down to be productive. I just feel like the staff is just making knee jerk reactions and maybe they lack faith in their system and players.

Kugler would rather be stuck in the eye with a hot poker than ask Price for advice. That's why, even starting his third year, he is having Bloomquist right about the "dumpster fire" that was left when he was hired.
