What it's suppose to happen in FIFA WC qualifying, instead it happened in the Basketball FIBA World Cup qualifying.

What’s the strength of your game? Don’t say rebounding.
3 point shooting and passing. If I had to describe my game it would be like Carmelo. If I had to describe my game from a Utep player. I would say maybe Stefon Jackson but I think I'm a better shooter from 3 point . When I was young kid i played Antonio Gillespie 1 on 1. I was like a freshman in high school. I think he was a senior.

Damn, man…maybe there is a spot for you. If not, I need a 2 guard for our 6’ 2” and under league in south Tejas. You interested?

I'm not saying my talent is like a Stefon Jackson. I'm just saying thats how I play. Stefon Jackson/Carmelo made their living with the mid range game.

American team should never lose to Mexico period. This shows the lack of fundamentals that our pro basketball promotes. Dribbling around for 22 seconds then jacking up shots.

We would be better off using a college team for these games because they at least pass the ball around and are unselfish. Losing exhibition games before the Olympics to Nigeria and others shows that our pro basketball is all show and flash.

Yeah some college coaches are going to give up their best players in season. No coach would do that.

I remember after the Olympics the NBA players were saying that the International game is more physical and they don’t call as many ticky-tack fouls.

Not sure, don’t care. FIBA isn’t going to adjust their schedule so the US can get college players.
Wanna bet. If the US says they are not going to compete unless they do, I would bet the house FIBA makes whatever schedule the US wants. FIBA needs us, we don't need them.

The US has gotten cocky thinking they can put anyone out there and win. That is the way it used to be, not anymore.

It hasn't been like that for 20 years.

I played some ball with friends on Sunday mornings, but mainly it was just for the alcohol until the bars opened. Chicks played and they'd foul the shit out of everyone. One chick got arrested for traffic warrants while showing up to the "game" right in front of the court and we had to go bail her ass out

My point is that these are nowhere close to being the best the US has to offer vs. the best Mejico has. Team Z vs Team A. Go have a party thoughI.
Everytime the US looses the excuse it's that they sent the B, C, D Team, now it's a Z team, yeah sure. You also have to consider Paul Stoll is a hell of a three point shooter that basically killed the US.

Wrong.
Qualifying for the World Championships used to be the FIBA Americas Tournament. It was usually a year before the WC. It was held in July or August.

About 5 years ago FIBA changed the name to FIBA World Cup and went to a different qualification format. Now they have to play games in different windows over a couple years instead of just one tournament.

Again, basketball may be played worldwide, but we are the number 1 country. If the US said it would not compete in the Soccer World Cup or any other tournament, no one would care anywhere outside the US. What have we won?

Now tell FIBA we need these games at certain times or we will not compete and watch how quickly they accomodate us. We are the number 1 ranked basketball team and beating us is everyones else's championship. Again, when it comes to basketball we don't need FIBA, they need us.

I don’t think basketball will ever adopt an international break type schedule like FIFA. The NBA and it’s players are more powerful than FIBA and USA basketball. There is 0 benefit for the NBA to suspend their season once or twice a year to accommodate international play. Plus American players consistently decline international call ups during summer tournaments due to fatigue, why would they accept a call up mid season when they could decline and take a week or two off?

Maybe the US should look at an international pool of players consisting of G-league and out of work players. It may be easier to build a solid core for international qualifiers when NBA players aren’t available instead of just throwing 10-15 guys together at the last minute.

International Basketball just doesn’t hold the prestige that International Soccer does. It is what it is.

It would be difficult to get one single group of 12-15 guys to commit for a few years. Some are free agents and might go overseas or sign with an NBA team. Last time around they would usually bring back a few guys that had already played in previous qualifying rounds. Sometimes just 3-4.
They definitely rely mainly on G-League and free agent players. Its difficult to call-up players overseas since their schedules are similar to NBA players.

Thats not how life works sir. These organizations set the rules and countries either follow them or get left out.
