I am no MLB fan by any means; however, I came across this major leaguer player/coach who has a long MLB playing and coaching career who played for UTEP.

He is. Mike Maddux is the pitching coach for the St. Louis Cardinals and is the only UTEP baseball player to play Major League Baseball.

Mike Maddux lived in the dorm as did most of the baseball team and was a very nice guy.
