Miners basketball ranked #53 nationally in attendance

Very good. We need to remember this when the attendance nazi speaks out next season.

I wonder where we stand in football?

We were number one in attendance in cusa for football. We ranked 9th out 61 g5 schools in attendance. I will try to find the link.

Yep those Gags ...have lower attendance but make the NCAA Tourney every year. But we average 2,000 more fans game so we are superior.

Come on Epsilon00. You should know by now than these college athletes can only win with a lot of fans in the seats. If the Don sold out every game last year UTEP would have been undefeated. NMSU plays in a crappy conference and only get to the Big Dance because of that. UTEP blows out NMSU every year and can't compete with us. We are way superior than NMSU. The Bel Air high school team could beat a WAC team.

It's funny that Las Cruces's population is about 700,000 less than El Paso and UTEP only averages a little more than 3,000 than NMSU.

How funny, Bob! Wait a minute. El Paso's population is about 1.5 million less than Houston yet UTEP averages more than Houston and Rice combined. Maybe population doesn't have a thing to do with attendance. This is college athletics after all.

UH has NFL, NBA, MLB teams to compete with.

Cities with bigger population tend to have more entertainment options. Houston has more than El Paso. El Paso has more than Las Cruces. Again, population alone isn't the gauge when it comes to college athletics attendance. For example, regardless of Houston's population, it is a part of a bigger metroplex. El Paso is on an island.

Exactly. Some people just don't get it.

So are these your opinions?

-UTEP should have better numbers than NMSUx because we are approximately 700K bigger.

-UH does not have to have better numbers than UTEP because of pro sports?

The Houston metroplex is over 6 million people. Are you two really saying the Houston Rockets are the reason UH averages 2600 fans a game?

Yep, some people just don't get it.

I am sure the majority of Houston fans don't live in Houston but the surrounding cities. For a weekday 7 pm game you have to leave the house at like 545 to be able to get through the horrible Houston traffic and make tip off. Then you have to deal with it after the game. Then like I said, the campus pretty much in a bad section of Houston. Then having to compete with MLB, NFL, NBA. This why they are at the 2600 mark.

I have to leave earlier than that from the east side to make it by tip off for a Miner game. UH averaging 2600 has nothing to do with MLB or the NBA. If population is as important as Bob implied then UH should sell out every home game.

I forgot to add that Albuquerque is pretty much the same size as El Paso and they had a bad year but they nearly doubled us in attendance.

What is the point of that post? I think it actually supports my position. Population does not dictate a college team's attendance.

Exactly. It's not just about population, it's about population and how easy it is to get around the city. It is very easy to get around El Paso, Las Cruces, and Albuquerque, but not so much in Houston.

I live on the eats side and I can leave my house at 6:30 and still make it for tip off. You must be one of those cars on the freeway that drives 45 MPH or less if it takes you that long.

Exactly. It's not just about population,

Bob, you are not as bad as everyone says. You were able to see my point. Kudos.

Jokes aside, Bob, you laughed because Las Cruces has 700,000 less people than El Paso but only averaged around 3,000 less fans per game. You went there. I brought up Houston and all of a sudden we start naming excuses why the same principal doesn't apply. Traffic! Houston Rocket games in July affect college basketball attendance in February! Etc. At 6.1 million, according to the way you laughed about UTEP/NMSUx, you would have to assume UH should average more than 2600 fans per game. But hey, let's change the rules as we go along. Whatever it takes to put down UTEP.

Go NMSUx!

Again, like always, you're missing the point. In El Paso, Las Cruces, and Albuquerque, it's the only game in town. Houston has many options and as stated before- a lot of people don't live in the city. The Houston Rockets don't play in July. Not sure why you think the people that are disagreeing with you are putting down UTEP. Not sure if you noticed, but I'm pretty well liked here. You and the few others who keep acting childish like signing up as "El Paso Chihuahua", using old "jokes", and keep saying that people who disagree with you are the same person, are in the minority now. This board is changing for the better.

Chihuas I didn't know that all games are played at the same time, that is amazing. (That would be an option)
If you have over six million people I bet that you would have around 100K people in all
games playing at the same time, so where are the remaining 5.9 million people.
Chihuas you must be stupid Carlos or he is your twin brother.

GO Miners...

I never said all games were played at the same time. People would rather use their money to watch an NBA team than the Cougars or the Owls in Houston. If El Paso had an NBA team, attendance at UTEP games would decrease.

And again, since some people don't understand this, not everybody lives in the city. Getting around El Paso is vastly different than getting around in Houston.

That argument is so old it has a beard. If your logic held any water, then USC and UCLA should be kicking everyones ass.

Just replace Houston with Los Angeles.

Hey, fair shot and true. As a matter of fact, I think the world of Menzies. Good coach and class act. Blows my mind why he stays there? The athletic department is a mess and kept on life support by Sunland Park Casino. Got word on the grape vine that things are getting grim and their fund raising people are visiting NMSU alums in New York to beg for some funds.

If I left my house at 6:30 I would not even be on 1-10 till around 6:50.

You must be one of those cars on the freeway that drives 45 MPH or less if it takes you that long.

Another classic MusicBob assumption. Jumping to conclusions is such a closed minded thing to do.

Just because you don't like it, but this board is changing for the better. Without your homophobic friend on here this board has shown a lot of improvement. This will be my last response to you ever. It's not worth it to respond to somebody like you.

My friend lives in far east El Paso and it takes him 30 minutes to get The Don. Not sure why it takes you an hour and a half.

C'mon buddy. C'mon. "Your friend?"

Like I said, it takes at least 20 minutes to even get to 1-10 from my house. Obviously, on the rare occasion traffic is decent, I can also get from the east side to The Don in about 20 minutes once I am on the freeway. More often than not, it's stop and go all the way to my exit. That's just the way it is sometimes.

It's funny that you know some much about NMSU.

I work for a non profit group and our head honcho was wanting to implement some ideas he got directly from a NMSU athletic department employee who's main job is to shmooze the big money alums of NMSU.

See, sourcing is a good thing chihua!

Chihua, I've driven around Houston. Busier than El Paso, yes. Ever since Houston got booted out of the former SWC, it's been downhill from there. Their gym is old, they don't invest in the community as heavily as UTEP and don't put the resources towards their bball program like UTEP does. That's why Billy G. took UTEP's bball plan and made (condition for his hiring at TAMU at that time) Aggies implement it for success. So UTEP's plan must work then...right? It got BG hired and the gags to the NCAA's and him hired at Kentucky, which he flushed down the toilet.

It's all in black and white my boy, just google it!

Just keeping it real...

Interesting that the three clones ("Bob" reincarnations of Music), all threw in the towel trying to debate you. Kudos, Mistabinks.

I guess Bob is too busy clicking "Like" on his other personas' postings.

I find it absolutely intriguing how 'Epsolow" shows up about the time Bob tries to go undercover, and uses the exact same language as one of his other alter-egos.

Must have way too much time on his hands.

I decided awhile back that I've had it with the likes of chi/music, carlos/chunks and epsilon/realm. I warned the board that with the gonad less moderators, this board was going to deteriorate into the infamous pro board site, which carlos tries so stupidly to act like he knows nothing about. BS. Quite awhile back during one of my back and forths with chi, I twice got him to admit to and recall a couple of things he posted to as Music. I didn't call him out on it, I already knew. I let it go. Wasn't going to make a difference anyway, the ball less moderators don't care. For him to chastise and get on a moral high horse to others is a joke. He has no integrity, zilch. Chi's claim that this board is now running better than ever is akin to Kanye West proclaiming himself the greatest Rock Star on the planet. Same with the other tools who stupidly pretend not to know chunks, realm, the failed realist board, etc. I come back now and then to check on any news and info, which to be honest, can be found on Miner Rush and Kyyotes Den, without all the drama. My battles with with trolls are over. When we get some moderators with any sort of guts and integrity, then this board might regain some sort of sanity and glory. Don't count on it. With that being said, count on me to always support UTEP. I'm an El Pasoan. A Miner Alumni, and it's just sports. Sometimes your team wins, sometimes your team loses. But life goes on. Oh, and save your breath trolls, I'm not going to click on this thread again to read your replies, so you'll only be showing your stupidity to cyberspace. Go Miners, Always.

allminer, consider coming back in August. Things will be a bit more serious in tone. It's summer and a lot more loose. Not much to talk about.
