Down 5 to USM in OT.

UTSA getting thumped by Marshall.

Marshall in the CUSA final again?

Well all the miners had to do was beat some average teams and they were in the final. Too bad we were way below average. SMH. It wont be MTSU in the NCAA this year.

MTSU lost. Wow, what a let down. Coming into last weekend most had them as a safe bet for bid. Two losses to inferior teams later and it's obvious that they're going to the NIT. What a shame.

And just like that MTSU season done. A conference where even a 24-7 final record, and scheduling tough teams will get u a mid level seed in the NIT if you dont win your tournament. Its laughable. Get us out Senter! Lol
Yes. Getting to the Mountain West is a must. I would donate big time for a buyout if needed.

I do hope that we leave CUSA. But MTSU has themselves to blame as well. All if the prognosticators had them as being in before their last two games, which should have been easily winnable for them. If they had made it to the conference finals without losing those two games they would have been dancing.

After all my Doc bashing, he goes and does this. Have to give him a lot of credit. USM played tremendous defense, made a ton of big shots, and hit their free throws. Lousy ending for MTSU.

Going to Conf USA was the biggest scam and joke from the getgo. Regionally its never made sense. Financially it hasnt made sense for a long time. And recruiting wise its making no sense for us. If we could get to the MWC I think a lot of people honestly believe we could be competitive. Better athletes, better coaches, and more opportunity for fans to enjoy the game. Was leaving the WAC for conf usa really a step up? Time has proven and its obvious it was a bad decision. I just hope i see a better opportunity for the fans and players in my lifetime. Sad way for Midd Tenn to end the year.

This is not going to be a popular opinion but I think had Floyd not given up we would have finished middle of the pack and advanced to the semifinals.

Hindsight is always 20/20. Tough to say. We left Fresno, Boise, Nevada, and Hawaii to be with Rice, Tulsa, SMU, Houston, and Memphis. Memphis was a legit bball school then. WAC had nothing comparable.

UTEP has nobody to blame except Stull and the boosters that wanted to keep Price and Floyd around.

The biggest mistake was declining the MW invitation when UH, SMU, Memphis and UCF left CUSA. Had we stayed in the WAC instead of moving to CUSA in 2004 we might have found ourselves conferenceless like our friends up i10.

All solid reasoning. I think they'll be out, I wish teams like them would get the benefit of the doubt. We will see.

Remember in 2015 Murray State went 27-5, went on a 25 game winning streak before losing in their first game in the conference tournament?? They still got left out of the NCAA Tournament. MTSU will be left out for some bubble P5 school.

This tournament was Middle Tennessee's to lose...and they did. Sad, considering they would have most likely won at least 1 game in the Dance.

Yes, that is not popular because it is absolutely ridiculous. We were essentially 0-6 with Floyd, with one win against a division 2 opponent which doesn't count. How can you even reasonably think that this team would all of a sudden turned it on and finished in the middle of the pack? They actually won 4 straight as soon as he left which shows he was the problem the whole time.
The team gave up on Floyd and it showed.

You’re right the team did give up. I still have fresh in mind the 2-13 start that led to finishing tied for 3rd in conference. With Sadler beating MTSU it inspired that comment. TF could flat out coach anyone in this league.

I wish he had done things the right way. Instead of suddenly quitting after the Lamar he could have announced he is retiring at the end of the season. Maybe the players play a lil better. He definitely makes better adjustments and wins a few more. Middle of the pack is literally one or two more wins in conference. USM only won one more game than us.

All I’m trying to say is I wish we had done what USM did last night. Hate TF or not but he had the coaching IQ to have pulled out one more bunny.

Ya I agree....finishing around .500 and being a middle of the pack CUSA team, and getting blasted in the semifinals would have made this season so much better. Then have to deal with the fact Tim Floyd will probably be returning for his 9 th season here, and Purplefire’s posts on we can’t give up on Floyd because it took Kermit Davis along time to turn things around at MTSU.

Gotta tell you guys about Doc Sadler. We were leaving the UTSA game Wednesday night and here comes Doc entering the arena with his staff. He saw us in our Miner gear and stopped to greet us saying, "It's always great to see Miner fan". He asked how the game had turned out and I informed him that they had lost. He said, "what was the score?" and when I told him he shook his head and said, " Oh, that's too bad. I really appreciate your coming to the game to support them". I didn't realize it at the time, but he was going back inside the arena after having beat FIU in the first game. What a classy guy to go out of his way like that just to greet us like long lost buddies. How many of his comrades would do that?
Cheers to Doc!

That's good to hear. Doc gets an unfair rap because he left for a higher paying job and his recruiting "sucked". Most fans will bash the old and praise the new. Still after many years, Doc still gets bashed.

Doc Sadler was 100 times the coach that Floyd was here and Floyd's recruiting truly did "suck". Doc was always a class guy.

Always a class guy? Yup.

But, Doc got bashed because he left nothing. He rode what BG left behind. This site was on fire during Doc's last year because there were players with exhausted eligibility and nothing solid the pipeline?! That told me this was crafted nicely by Billy and there's nothing wrong with that. HC's want their assistant to get good opportunities. So what realistically happened is Doc's plan worked, Floyd's didn't.

And Marshall rides right into the CUSA championship game...again. I hope they win. They are playing well and they beat MTSU twice. Elmore is a heck of a '2 star' player too.

Let's pray that it gets us 2 in the tournament, but with the way SDSU is destroying Nevada, the MW may get 2 in as Nevada seems to be a lock, and that may lead to only 1 for CUSA.
Does anyone have any idea how Nevada and MTSU compare? Minerinciter you seem good at that. Please give me your opinion. It looks like Nevada's RPI is in the top 15, so there is no way they are going to be left out.

Nevada is a darn good team and MTSU is "last 4 looking to get in". However, they had a solid season. Those last two losses may hurt them. They may suffer the fate of Illinois State when they had a great regular season but didn't make NCAA. if MTSU gets in, it will be a low seed that the big boys hope they don't get paired with because MTSU knows how to play giant killer.

This is literally what you have to do in CUSA to get at large
Beat at least 2 top 50 non conference teams
Not lose to anyone under top 100
No more than 2 losses in conf play
Make finals of Conf tourney have no more than 5 overall losses. Do that and you just might get an at large as a 11 or 12 seed play in game!!!! Here's what have to do in a Major Conference to get an at large...... Show up and beat cup cakes in non conference and go .500 in conf... Ticket Punched! Lol its a joke, Screw these Old Dudes in the Committee, they're taking the fun out of the selection shows!

Only five at large bids for non P5 teams. Good thing they expanded the tournament to 68 or us mid majors would only get one bid.

Speaking of MTSU, after not making the tourney, now rumors are that they may be losing their coach to Ole Miss.
