Never too early 2025 football W/L prediction

We could have easily been bowl team this year. Before you start yelling at me, I'm looking at Southern Utah, LaTech, and MTSU we could have won to get to 6 wins.

On the other hand, we could have just as easily been 0-12. So I guess 3-9 is about right.

Next year, I don't think 6-6 or 7-5 is too much of an ask. If it's another 3-9 season, I'll hop on the Fire Scotty bandwagon.

We are not getting anywhere without a better qb in my opinion…

Utep had the number 1 recruiting class in the conference last year

How many of those kids saw significant playing time this year?
Number one recruiting class in Conference USA. 🤔

Is that really supposed to mean anything? 🤡

What conference do we currently play in? I think we all know we aren't going to have the #1 recruiting class in the country.
If we sign all players currently committed we would also have the #2 recruiting class in remaining MWC teams.
Give credit where it's due. What CSW can do with them is an open question, but it has to be better than the last 10 years of bottom of CUSA recruiting.

I think the most important thing is fortifying the offensive line and getting the running game going. Waldens offense relies heavily on consistently running the ball well. It never got going this season outside of maybe two games. A dual threat QB obviously plays a role, but Jevon Jackson was a 1300 yard back last season and Kam Thomas was way more involved in the running game. I think the issue is the offensive line play was piss poor, which had a trickle down effect throughout the offense.

This isn't saying Locklear is great, but going out and getting a good experienced dual threat QB will be difficult. Does UTEP have the resources to compete in what is basically college free agency? I don't think so. Maybe there is a JUCO or FCS QB out there that fits, but I have my doubts.

I'd like to see utep bring in some transfer portal and JUCO OL. Walden has brought in some OL that have great size, but experience will be an issue. OL, like QBs, are covered, but the run game is what will make or break this Walden offense.

I think 6-7 wins is possible. That would mean going 4-4 or 5-3 in Conference. A lot of good points in this thread. I’m cautiously optimistic we will get to a bowl.

It’s not for sure UTEP will play those teams. Very likely NMSU, LaTech, and SHSU are there, but toss up on the rest. Missouri St and Delaware enter CUSA. Due to location, it’s likely Missouri St plays UTEP. Also possible Delaware does too.

If that happens, I think they split those 2 games.

I’ll say 5-7….maybe 6-6 if CSW can hand over the offensive play calling.

GO MINERS!
It is way too early...🤨🤨🤨

You can make prediction until after transfer portal. Capeesh??? Why do I always have to bring up and enforce the rules???😠😠

Forgot about the additions.

Hopefully CUSA keeps NMSU the last game of the season, Thanksgiving weekend.

Even with #1 recruiting classes in CUSA, it will likely still take 2-3 seasons to take effect. I dont think we are recruiting a bunch of freshman starters. Problem is players can just up and leave now. It's gonna be hard. A better QB won't hurt either.

Other than Duhon, and perhaps Odom and Kam Thomas, I don't think there would be a mass exodus of the returning players that contributed this year. Guys will leave for other opportunities/playing time, but I don't think many would see a big NIL market. Last year, I think it was just Hubbard and Akharaiyi who moved up.
