After the 22 - 23 season, New Mexico State will become a conference opponent and no longer OOC. Should we try to keep an annual football game against UTSA? Switch the in and out of conference setting with those two. UTSA could be a good nonconference opponent. And who should we develop a home and home OOC series with, in basketball, since NMSU will be in conference? Maybe GCU, if they become the dominant WAC basketball team. We'd better be looking to improve our scheduling after this year, if we want to keep up at all. Any ideas?

SMU, GCU, UNM, and Arizona would be my blend of reach for the stars yet realistic goal for OOC games.
I like the UTSA selection, but I am afraid they will outshine UTEP in almost every aspect pretty soon.
UTSA makes sense as a regional rival to replace NMSU as an out of conference foe. We can use how we do against them as a gauge of how well we are keeping up with the competition. Maybe that will motivate the Athletic Department to step it up on resources. We'll see. Go Miners.
