CUSA is getting rid of some dead weight. Only teams I hate losing is UAB and ODU.

I think that too, but it's always pointed out this was a football decision. I obviously know why the decision was made. However that doesn't change that it will be a better Basketball Conference and get more notoriety if it gets more teams in the NCAA year in and year out.

New Mexico State and Liberty U. are both good enough in basketball to be noticed by the tournament selection committee. If UTEP improves, and so far it is, and La Tech and Middle Tennessee keep up at a good level, this will be an improved basketball conference. But football is the driving force in all this. C-USA will be about the same as it was, mediocre. Liberty has a good football team but NMSU leaves a lot to be desired. Not sure how the two FCS schools moving up will shake out in these sports. Time will tell. Go Miners.

Just going by ncaa net rankings UTEP would only be ranked above FIU as of today. If La Tech wins the cusa title today then 3 teams from cusa 4.0 will be in the big dance this season. UTEP is better coached than it has been in years. Now we will find out about recruiting. Cusa 4.0 has great potential so I'm looking forward to it.

It should be required by the league for all schools to start scheduling up. We all need to make ourselves more appealing via the OOC schedules. (Didn't I read UTEP opens the season at Texas next year?)

If cusa decides to add a 10th school, SFA would help the conference in mbb and has good fcs football as well plus they would balance the conference east and west.

Better chance of good net rankings when you're not playing schools in your own conference with rankings in the 300's and high 200's.
That helps but we still need teams in the Q1 metric. UNT in conference only played two teams in either the 300's or high 200's. The lack of Q1 conference game really hurt them. As it stands now there will be no Q1 opportunities in CUSA 4.0.

As usual OOC will be important in that regard. Hopefully UTEP can take advantage of opportunities like playing at Texas.

You cannot be serious

To follow up on my previous post, Jacksonville State is 21-10 and likely to make the NCAA tournament this year, while Sam Houston State is 19-14. If they keep this level of play up, they will help strengthen our image as a basketball conference. Something to look forward to. Go Miners in the Basketball Classic.

Remember this in 2 years and I'll accept you're "You we're correct" response lol That's fine if you don't agree only time will tell. Make sure to clarify you're reading what I put correctly. I said I'm aware football runs the show and Basketball plays second. However the fact remains I believe it'll be a better Basketball Conference and have the opportunity at multiple bids sooner than later.

I'd like to see us be in a multi bid conference, sooner and later. But the powers that be in college sports would rather see eight or nine teams from each of the power five than two or three from any of the midlevel conferences. Money talks and BS walks so to speak. I hope we do well in basketball whatever the time frame. I just hope Conference USA improves in football as well. A rising tide raises all boats sort of thing.

Which P5 March Madness team could we beat?
