Not hiring Jans good for Utep

Why compare? Both are good coaches but at very different levels of their careers. Jans will make 2.5 mill a year, coach in the SEC and have resources far and away greater than Golding. Jans is at the top run of the ladder and his next step is making a run in the tourney. Golding is on the ladder but still has a long way to go. Silly to say that the NMSU wins, tourney visits and championships are not justified because they play in a weak conference, the goal is always to win championships, get to the tourney and win as many as possible, no matter what league you play or coach in. Jans and NMSU have done pretty well meeting these goals, Golding/UTEP not even close.

Seriously though, we honestly don't even know if Jans was on Senter's list. Or if Jans even was interested in UTEP. It's all internet chatter....JS

No. It wasn’t just chatter.

Internet chatter....I am accurate.....

According to the link you posted, "days after he REPORTEDLY interviewed" That's chatter.... "The day FOLLOWING Golding's hire he was given an extension" Chatter and zero proof there was connection. Most likely, the extension was already in the works.

Senter ever say who was on the list? No. Jans ever say he interviewed? no.

Chatter.....

Why aren't you bashing UTEP for not hiring Tang because he was REPORTEDLY interested and a finalist?

Did you read the whole article?

Moccia defends Jans' interest in UTEP position

Jans was not on Wednesday's announcement, which was made via Zoom.

But when asked for his message to fans following Jans' interest in the same post at a rival following former coach Paul Weir's departure for the University of New Mexico in 2017, Moccia said it's other schools who have expressed interest in Jans.

"Aggies fans have the right to think whatever they want and say whatever they want and we never stifle any opinions," Moccia said. "In my opinion as the athletic director, it is paramount to keep a coach.

"My job is to find the best coaches and if our rivals find they want them as their coaches and make a run at them, I can't do much about that. ... If that question is in some way, does it bother me, that is an emphatic, absolutely not. I will always fight to keep Chris Jans as an Aggie because I think he's that good but I don't begrudge anybody in looking at any opportunity. ... That thought of loyalty, I define that as hard work and passion and I think Chris Jans has displayed that in spades."

Why would I bash UTEP about Tang? If Tang wins a championship at KState and Golding only gets to the NIT, then maybe. Not sure what Tang has to do with Jans. Especially since, it’s well known that Jans had interest in the UTEP job.

So based on the quote you just posted, NMSU AD did not specifically mention UTEP. ANNNNNDDDDDD he said "IF" a rival was interested......He could mean UNM, Grand Canyon, Seattle......like I said.....you can imply, but unless Jans or Senter said it took place, it's conjecture.

Sure was nice for a while.....

You mentioned 3 teams, one of which is not a rival. I have never seen any NMSU or Seattle fan call each other rivals.

Grand Canyon just hired Bryce Drew the year before. So they were going to fire Bryce Drew and hire Jans? Why didn’t they just do that the year before when the job was open?

New Mexico hired Pitino a whole month before UTEP hired Golding. How many UNM boosters and fans would want to hire NMSU’s coach again? You know, since it worked out so well last time.

You can refuse to believe there was mutual interest between Jans and UTEP. I don’t see what the problem is with it. Maybe you’re too dumb to accept it.

YOU have always been the one about fact and prove it. There are NO facts to prove it, just assumptions. Just stop.
