I was able to watch the game on TWC here in South Carolina and here are some thoughts. The good - really liked the road uni's. The bad - I can see why Coach likes Leftwich because if he is near or in the lead he generally doesn't screw up, but when we were two scores down and he had to create something..zilch. I thought they might go to one of our taller strong armed guys to stretch the field, but nope. He really does have issues seeing over linemen and doesn't see the field well at all. Play calling was really pathetic. Down two scores and call run plays and two yard swing passes..really?? I am hoping next year they REALLY open up the competition. I did think the Miners played hard considering they have lost at least 13 starters this year. I have bought season tickets for over 20 years (basketball and football) but am going to wait until I see if he makes any changes before I buy season football tickets. I am hopefully for the BB team and think we have the talent to make some noise this year.

First off please dont stop buying football tickets. In the scheme of things basketball attendance is not important. However, football attendance and season ticket sales are very important.

As for the game. Wasnt happy with the playcalling. We didnt take enough shots down field. All year ODU has had a tough time stopping off tackle runs. They really struggle stopping stretch plays. For some reason we tried inside zones, isos and dives all day. I dont know why.
As for Leftwich, this wasnt his best game. He didnt play terribly, just not as well as the three prior games. Higgins certainly didnt help Lefty with his play calls. Leftwich is the best quarterback we've had since Vittatoe, which isnt saying much. He is definately the best option we have. We wouldn't have beaten Rice or FAU without him under center. This offense is built to be run by a dual threat qb. Ive always thought Johnson had the highest ceiling of any of our qbs and was the qb of the future. It will be interesting to see if Kavika can take job in the spring. I feel good having mack around for two more years. He's a really bright guy and hes great in the qb room. He's also a very competent qb who can win games. I think hes a good enough with the right personnel and playcalling to win cusa. I think Kavika though makes this offense dynamic and scary. It will be up to Kavika to see if he can take the job.

Appreciate your thoughts. I have been a fan since the Fred Carr days and it is hard to take every year of the same. I am sure I will give in and get tickets. I always donate and tickets are minimal cost. I go to games on the East Coast and what we pay for mid-field at the Sun Bowl are nose-bleed end zone back here. Hope our kids in the dog house get their act together. I really think they have potential. Guard play is really the key to college basketball and it looks like we have some play makers and pure shooters.

Go Miners

(Core strength) Conditioning, tackling, pass catching, pass defense, healing, and JUCO recruiting in defense and offensive line seem crucial.

We desperately need to find a feature back probably two. I would also look at replacing the athletic trainer.

You'know when you stop being angry and accept fate for what it is, you end up going outside and trimming hedges. Even your neighbors. I am at my wits end with Higgins choice of plays. He seems tone deaf to any type of rhythm to his play calling. It's as if he's calling plays to a game that doesn't exist. If Kugs is going to be successful, he's going to have to make some staff changes. It's not even a question anymore. He goes into his fourth year with the same band of brother's, it's going to be more of the same. He, the program, the players and even his staff deserve better.

As for Higgins, I've seen little kids call a better game playing Madden than I've seen this guy do.

They were bigger, stronger, faster and more talented. Hard to believe they were only 4 and 5. Our D hung tough but the O wouldn't give them a break.
