ODU Wants it more

To make matters worse, the refs give ODU an interception (player's left foot was clearly out of bounds) as a makeup call for their inadvertent whistle that cost ODU a first down earlier. SMDH. Game over.

I agree, that was not play calling that told these players, we're gonna do everything to win. ODU was ripe for the picking, we needed this game. Now an unlikely upset next week is the only way if nothe we go probably 5-7 in an injury filled forgettable season! This game scared me, but Utep should have gotten this one.

This game was very frustrating. A winnable game on the road and we wet the bed. After the UNT game im going to take a few months off from the board until national signing day. This football season has been the most frustrating I can remember. I think the future is bright but you never really know.

I thought the game call on offense was OK, but no matter what play you run you have to catch the ball. Golden has dropped so many passes the last few games he has become a huge liability to the passing game. Our O line seemed to disappear when we need them most as well. If we had 1-2 more weapons on offense we would have won this game. We can't run wide because we don't have outside speed at tail-back, we can't get the ball to backs because they can't catch or get out of the backfield. Injury has left us with few options on offense and once a team figures this out we get shut down. We did not play bad today, but we didn't lose to a powerhouse either. Shouda-Coulda for this one.

Next season, assuming Juniel and Oldham are eligible and still on the team, UTEP will have some speed at WR. Batson and White coming back as is Redix. More weapons. UTEP is due to have a year without a rash of injuries and that would help immensely. The offense has 9 starters returning plus Jones and the defense has about 7 with a lot of underclassmen getting experience. It's all about next year now.

Next Year. Not having a take it to the house guy in the backfield is killing us. Jones will certainly make the difference there, but we have to build some depth behind him (or next year could be a repeat) WR we are fine and Redix is looking better each game. Our TE position is loaded (we had another step up today in Ford). We need backfield speed and if I were coach I would be scouring HS an JC for a fast RB

Like hell you are. You are good direct source and Basketball is just tipping off.

I aint going anywhere, Im just frustrated as hell. I thought this was going to be the season our football program took the next step and became consistent winners. Hopefully we can gel and make a nice little run hoops.

Hopes don't account for massive depletion due to injuries. It is what it is.

I went out and trimmed my hedges and just to keep the fun going, I did my neighbor's as well. Totally frustrating. Totally.

Golden's drops were well documented during camp, so this far into the season is no surprise. Making him a default starter with no competition for the spot was a mistake on the coaching staff's part. Golden is a RB trying to play WR. Those are two fundamentally different positions that requires a developed skill set for each. One obviously being able to catch the ball. I always thought they should've kept him at RB and alternated him with Jones. One that saves Jones (and Golden) wear and tear and two, it would've given them a nice change of pace in the backfield.
