Seattle comes into the game at 3-5 and ranked 98 in the all too early NET, compared to our 165. One of those losses coming, just barely, against a Liberty team that looks much better than we do right now. They also got blown out by Duke, but so would we and a lot of other teams.

Despite the fact that NET ratings don't mean much right now, and that their record is worse than ours, I do think that Seattle has played better than us so far. However, we are at home, in Golding's 4th year, and this should be a win for a team in our position. I'm going to don the orange colored glasses for this one:

UTEP 79
Seattle 76

NET ratings don’t mean anything to UTEP - period! Winning your conference tournament is the only pathway to the NCAA Tournament.

It's kids day. That's why.
And I’m just gonna say it the ambience is so much better without “that lady” who does all the yelling on the microphone between breaks and the game- I enjoyed myself so much better without her presence.., I don’t care what anyone says. She sucks and makes a game worse.- and I hope she never comes back…. i’m serious. This is one of the few times I actually enjoyed being at the Haskins center because she wasn’t around today.

Never mind, we just made another field goal and the score still stuck at 50. Maybe they aren’t giving us points til they get closer? Lol Why does our production gotta be so bad? Actual score shows 35-61 while on stream stuck at 25-50 smh

The yapping lady, the shitty arena music, and the annoying screamer in the band section. 🤡

Great all around game by the miners. Tough defense, excellent offense and rebounded well. The bigs (kalu & Hamilton) played great combining for 25 points and limiting moncrieffe to 8 boards, he’s top 10 in the nation in rebounding. Bynum and Hamilton came off the bench and took over. Bynum has been a really nice spark off the bench for us, didn’t know he led the nation in 3pt %, great get by golding in a area we have all wanted improvement on. Frazier had a quiet 18. Great all around win for the miners. Hopefully the team can continue to improve and tread in the right direction. GO MINERS!!

Only bad thing about Bynum, he is a 50% free throw shooter.

Couldn't watch but good shooting % for the Miners today it seems like our bigs played well.
They played pretty well. Seattle didn’t seem to have anybody that could hang with them. Not at all to be pessimistic, but Seattle’s interior was pretty small, soft and not much of a scoring threat. I mean, we even won the rebounding game, as you probably saw.

Yeah, I was surprised by that stat too. As good as he’s been from 3, I was really impressed with his body control and ability to finish at the rim.

I too missed today's game but like the stat line for Kalu and Big Ham. Each 5/6 from the field and a combined 5/6 from the line. Frazier is the leader on this team and Bynum is a huge spark for us. Love his game so far this year.

I wasn't able to post during the game, but did watch the first 10 minutes or so on my phone while shopping with my wife, heard the rest of the first half on the KROD app while driving home, and then watched most of the 2nd half while doing a myriad of things around the house. These afternoon games are hard fore me to follow properly, and having them during the holiday season makes it all the more impossible.

I said before hand that I thought Seattle was better than their record. I'm not so sure about that now, but I will say that we played our best game of the season. Our bigs had their most productive combined day ever, we hit our shots, and defended well. In the second half, when it is common for teams to lose intensity when up by such a large amount, we never let Seattle cut it to under 20 until we were in garbage time. Great game by the Miners, night and day from what we saw against Utah Valley. Hopefully we can build on this.

Whoa! You're telling me that with a schedule containing no elite OOC teams, and with already having lost to Utah Valley and SJSU, we don't have a shot at an at large bid? Damn, I didnt realize that!

Or maybe, just possibly, I was referring to using the NET ratings as an estimate of the strength of the two teams who were going to play today, and saying that it's too early in the season, as their isn't yet enough data, for such a rating to be anywhere near meaningful.

Nah, I was thinking that we are well on our way to a top 40 NET, and an possible at large bid, and you destroyed that dream for me. Now how am I supposed to sleep?
