I don't know if you've been getting the commercials where you're at, but Vegas is trying to get gambling on the ballot this year. 4 casinos in Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, gambling on reservations (I assume including the Tiguas), and machines at racetracks. As someone who goes to Louisiana every few months, I'm not sure what to think of it.

Just curious.....but this is being fronted as any economic development driver, Why then the four cities with the best economics and growth are only listed? Austin IMOP doesn't need any more economic development. Why not place these in areas that need it IE The Rio Grande Valley, West Texas and EP. And another question, the Tiguas spent millions to offer table games etc and the state shut them down, now they going to throw them a bone?

Gambling for depressed areas is such a double-edged sword. Sure, it creates some jobs, but it destroys some lives.

I liked it when there were only certain places you could gamble, so you would plan your trip and budget accordingly.

It's a tricky issue. But if they're going to allow gambling in Texas, then the Tiguas definitely should be at the top of the list, after all the fights they've been through with their casino.

Open it up. If we can have all kinds of guns we can have gambling. Might as well be allowed to bring our guns into the gambling houses too. We have booze in the gambling houses, yes?

Don't hate. I'm a drinker, a gambler, and a gun owner.

Ok, "Maurice"

Why aren't casinos allowed everywhere?
The nanny state won't let you have the freedom to spend your money as you like. Specifically, head nanny Dan Patrick.

I guess it got quashed by the legislature. I just got excited when I saw the media push. Apparently they'll let us vote on it over Patrick's dead body. Which sucks because I'd guess the referendum would probably pass fairly easily.

That is kind of ironic. You can have all the guns you want in Texas, which is cool. But if you gamble “OMG that’s crazy!”

Gambling is illegal in Texas and that has never been overturned for whatever reason except for the Texas Lottery.

Federally recognized Tribes can open Casinos. But I think there aren't very many of them. But there are definitely Casinos in Texas.

For the same reason, you can't buy beer before noon on Sunday in TX, the last time I visited I had forgotten this puritanical law. I remember (in the 1990s') my uncle who lived in Plainview would visit and go to J-town and load up on liquor and beer because they are such puritans in that county that they don't sell any alcoholic beverages. (don't know if that is still the case) Bunch of religious hypocrisy.

You can buy at 10 am on Sundays.

"AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Legislature approved a bill Friday that will loosen alcohol restrictions on Sunday mornings. Starting Sept. 1, Texans will be able to purchase beer and wine at stores at 10 a.m. Under current law, stores can’t sell booze until noon."

Blue laws too. Why can’t I buy a car on Sunday?

I am playing in online casinos for a while now. I can even say that I am pretty familiar with this industry. I've started my gambling career by playing on platforms like name-pics.com. But my dream is to play in Las Vegas in real poker competitions. And after reading the article you've posted, I realize that my dream is achievable. Honestly, I am planning to attend the poker competition that will take place this summer in Las Vegas. So guys, in case there is someone who is more experienced than me in this field and would like to share some pieces of advice, I will be grateful. Because I will need some good tips.
