Truly a remarkable woman who turned UTEP into a tier 1 university

Always took time to talk to me when I was a lowly student and even later I was honored to attend events at Hoover House.

RIP and tomorrow I hope we win one for you.

I wouldn't be where I am if not for her. Leader, visionary, grace of charity, pioneer, academic, brilliant....what more can be said? The more she was attacked by haters, the better all of UTEP became, not just her.

In this case she retired pretty old (late 70s?) and likely with some ongoing medical conditions, but yes often that is true. Sad to hear.

I remember when she did an open house at the Hoover House. It was the only time I met her and she was super sweet.

Very sad news not only for UTEP, but the city of El Paso. Much of the growth in academics, endowment and new building construction happened under her watch. Dr. Natalicio was a visionary who turned a medium size college into a Tier I Research University. I hope they name a building at UTEP in her honor. RIP Dr. Natalicio, you will be missed!

My friend and I just arrived at the Chihuahuas game when they did the moment of silence for her. Truly shocking. RIP to a remarkable woman and pioneer.

She did a ton of good for the university. During her tenure UTEP was an extremely affordable university and the vast majority of Miner alumni didn’t graduate with crippling student loan debt unlike many graduates. RIP

She dedicated her life to education and tens of thousands of people benefited from her labor, my wife and I, and many of our friends included. I had the pleasure to meet her on several occasions and she always made time for students, alumni, fans, and El Pasoans. UTEP needs to name the UGLC center after her, or some other MAJOR recognition for her passion and dedication towards UTEP.

Public memorial for Dr. Natalicio later this month. I assume they've already had private services and burial for her. I would have thought they've have her lie in repose for the public to pay their final respects, like they did for Coach Haskins at The Don.
