The First Head Has Rolled

Will it make a difference. Kugler wants to run it down an opponent's throat. Wont mean much if they continue with the same play calling.

He dared to pass the ball. In Kug's mind, if we ran into those Arizona 10 man fronts which were blitzing all out down the middle, we could've gotten 3 yards a play, make some third down conversions and kept the ball away from the UOA offense. Because real men, run down the middle no matter what.

That might be a good thing...except that Natkin can only call plays from within Kugs' playbook. Won't matter who is calling plays as long as Kugler is at the helm.

This isn't Pease's fault. He is truly just the scapegoat.

So was Patrick Higgins. The UTEP OC is on a very short leash. Kugler is the source of our offensive woes. It's obvious he is clueless and he has no idea what he is doing.

Y tu Kugler?

Hearing Natkin is taking over play calling too...

The worst part of the offense has been the o-line. That's squarely on kugler. He bragged about the depth he had built along the o-line. They aren't good. I realize they had injuries and that gatewood was the second best player on the o-line. However, two injuries shouldn't completely torpedo the line. Kugler is an o-line gut and outside of hernandez the line is is terrible.the horrific line play is an indictment of Kugler.

Totally Agreed, solid take my man.

Outside of Gatewood and Hernandez, we are so slow off the ball and fat, athletic DL's and LB's have been killing us constantly this year. Spencer Leftwich should be held accountable but friends don't fire friends at UTEP. Smh.

Good grief, you've given up exactly 150 points in three games and you can the OFFENSIVE Coordinator? What are the odds Mason makes the plane to West Point to meet the team that hung 77 on you last season? Or if he does, the odds he's on the plane BACK to El Paso?

It was only 66 which is much, much better.

Please please any offensive coordinator with an imagination!

When you're desperate - and this team's legit looking at oh for '17 right now - you let 'er rip, try anything. That said, it's amazing the number of fans who think offensive play calling is the cure all. Probably many of the same folks who think a switch in conference affiliation is the answer. Sure, get creative, take a shot here and there on offense, but this staff has recruited to a certain style of offense for 5 years. It's severely limited in versatility, particularly with respect to lack of talented skill players. As the saying goes, it's not about the Xs and Os, it's about the Jimmys and the Joes. You can't make Chablis wine out of well water. You just can't.

Great, just great! Kugler is one ours but muddied his UTEP legacy and now another UTEP legend could potentially go down on the USS Kugler in Natkin?!

Will Stull and Kugler protect him to obtain future work? Yes. But Kugler FBS coaching is toxic right now and he has no one to blame but himself and if I was a head coach of a D1 school I would ask myself about Natkin is this the right guy coming from a head coach who historically struggled. He can recruit but what does he bring to our program? How did he handle when given head offensive play calling duties?

Pease and Mason have a much broader reach of prospective employers and can say "Look where I was at?! My hands were tied. Look at the broader scope of my body of work". Natkin is young and doesn't quiet have that on his resume.

Scheme and play calling doesn't make you a great OC, talent does. And we have had the worst recruiting classes for as long as I remember.

Don't get me wrong the defense is by no means awesome but when your offense can't move the ball and you are on the field all the time unless your Alabama your gonna give up a lot of points

Oh god you were right.

So we are behind by 100 pts and that damn fool still wants to run the ball? It doesn't matter who the OC is Kuglar is going to force the run. His ass is clueless as a HC and is killing this program for years to come. It will take us years to dig out of this.

If he's insisting on running the ball more I refuse to use the word stubborn to describe him. In the words of Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder "He's gone full retard."

Just wait for the Army game. After they put up 400 yards on the ground, Browning will be promoted to D-coordinator....These are all just opportunities for the young guys until everybody gets fired.

I seriously think they can hit over 500 this year. Last season on the road they had over 400. Our defense seems worse and our offense is non existent. It's going to be uglier.

Look, guys, we just don't play well when jet-lagged.
