No way. He will be gone if he wins 1 or 0 games next season. He definitely doesn’t get more than 5 especially if he’s not winning. He only gets more than 5 if he miraculously starts winning. Maybe like 5% of fans believe that is possible.

I got to attend a presentation by the UTEP Athletic department and this was brought up several times. Basically, they said there are many costs on their end that eat away at the price of a ticket. These costs are different than Ticketmaster fees or taxes. When pressed, they said UTEP makes more money with a crowd of 15K at current ticket prices versus a crowd of 40K at $5 a ticket.

They did admit they expected a bigger crowd for the Lobos game. They followed by saying 6K at current prices is still more profitable than 8 or 9K at previous prices.

They also mentioned that they cutting way back on comp tickets.

We were then reminded that they don’t pocket the ten bucks you pay for a beer. They get a small slice. So bigger crowds buying more concessions does not necessarily mean a lot more money for UTEP. Not if the bigger crowd purchased cheap tickets. It helps but the real money is from ticket sales.
