UTEP #1 for public universities

At the end of the day, universities shouldn't be prep schools for the elite. They should make a difference in the upward mobility of their communities.

Natalicio has done a great job. However, to get the university to the next level, the next President will have to make changes that will make a lot of people mad. The University has to implement and admission standards. UTSA and UTA have 60% acceptance rates. UTEP will have to get to that point or UTEP will be at the bottom of the UT system with UT tyler and UTPB

Agree on admission standards but will never happen. The percentage of students taking remedial classes is staggering at UTEP. That is a cash cow for the school as students have to pay for those but don't receive any credit. A lot of the students just aren't college ready but UTEP won't turn em away because of the cash flow.

I wonder how UTEP actually performs on upward mobility? Are there good paying jobs for UTEP grads who stay in El Paso?

I think the best paying jobs are out of town which is why UTEP represents so well against Texas and regional teams.
