EL PASO – UTEP Head Coach Rodney Terry announced the addition of Khalfani Hill who signed a letter of intent to play basketball with the Miners starting in the 2021-22 season.

Hill is a 6-foot-9 versatile guard/forward with a 7-foot-2 wingspan. The product of Toronto, Canada, averaged a double-double (22.0 ppg, 10.0 rpg) and 2.0 blocks per game last year with Crawford Adventist Academy. He added a season-high 32 points during a contest.

“We are really excited about adding Khalfani to our program,” Terry said. “Khalfani is a high character kid who comes from a great family and support system. He is just starting to scratch the surface with how good he can be. Over the past few years he has grown six inches and is now 6’9 with a 7’2 wingspan. His versatility and skill set at his size gives him a high ceiling and an ability to affect the game in a variety of ways.”

Hill will play for Excel Hoops Prep (Brampton, Ontario) during the 2020-21 season. The Excel Hoops Prep program is in its second year under the operation and is a member of the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA). The OSBA is Ontario’s premier league which has produced several of the country’s most talented players.

“As a result of the pandemic, Khalfani has not had the opportunity to play in front of many college coaches with the absence of AAU,” Terry added. “Fortunately, through relationships in the basketball community, we were able to find out about him and build a relationship with Khalfani and his family. In normal times, a prospect with his size and skill set would not slip under the radar. We are fortunate to add a young man like Khalfani to our program.”
