Jackson's mom explained to him that she was a top basketball player herself but did not take school seriously enough. She grew up in Detroit, went to a community college in Kansas, then made it into University of Texas-El Paso—but she didn't finish there.

Vincent Hunter sure remembers the first time he met Josh Jackson.

Imagine having Hunter and Jackson here. It could have happened.

There were top players who many hoped would be leading this year's team to very green pastures; but instead hard core Miner fans are hoping for slightly burned Bermuda grass with a few dog pee spots. He wasn't one of the them. I believe UTEP offered but nothing serious came from him.

It's done, gone, wasn't meant to be and makes for good alcohol induced conversations in the Cincy District (or on this site after a Saturday night game and some decide to post on here drunk, myself included). This is the same type of wishful and wasteful "what could've been" scenarios played out by hardcore fans if Haskins did have that extra scholarship to offer Gary Payton (to play along side Tim Hardaway), but instead went to some Williams kid at that time and only lasted one year, and Payton left UTEP heart broken but went on to star at Oregon State.
