Who does the WAC add?

Interesting. And before you get bashed for this, it is entirely possible.
This is another Fili special. The answer is no one. There is no way in hell Montana Montana State, Idaho and Idaho State leave the Big Sky for the WAC.

WAC has 0 to offer a FBS school. No money, No TV, No NCAA playoff promise, No bowl tie ins, NADA.
The Idahos, plural? If this supposed to be an fbs conference, Idaho could consider it but Idaho St, no way, no how.
I wonder if we add 2-3 WAC teams would it be enough to lure GCU to join too.
And get GC to add football. They can afford it. Games in Phoenix could help in recruiting.
They don’t have anywhere to play on-campus. Them adding football, would hurt UTEP recruiting more than it would help.
I don't care for their startup football program. Actually I prefer they don't add football. We all know how that story will end...
Other than NMSU I don't think any other WAC schools are coming to CUSA. It sounds like Sam may be out. I don't know that Tarelton will be invited by themselves.
The only good thing CUSA has going for it is that it gets shares of the college football playoff revenue. They are one of the ten conferences entitled to the revenue. Even if a conference like the WAC joined FBS ( which I think is highly unlikely) they would be locked out of CFP money. There is no way they are going to agree to split the pot further.
The FCS has been shook by the departure of several schools the last decade and now JMU a real cornerstone program has left. CUSA represents the last chance for some of the big boys to join a FBS conference. This should allow us to put together a pretty decent conference.

There are signs re entry Liberty may be open to joining CUSA. They realize their conference options are non existent. It will be interesting to see if they join.
This is all very fluid and seems to change hourly. I think it would be huge to get the Dakota and Montana schools. They bring name ID and could be competitive instantly.

No CUSA is dead this would be Utep leaving and going back home. Starting fresh and build it up again.Screw the east coast.
GCU can play where the Cards play or they can build a new stadium. They have the money.
Liberty isn’t joining. Since Marshall and ODU are gone, plus JMU choosing the Belt instead, they have no reason to join. The Montana and Dakotas aren’t joining either. Those teams aren’t sacrificing their non-football sports to join a far flung CUSA. A Montana to Florida to Virginia conference isn’t happening. CUSA already put out a statement, talking about being “regional”. Your proposition is the exact opposite of that.
If what you're suggesting happens I'd be Elated! I'd swap Central Arkansas with Missouri St. Other than that love it!
Not a single conference option is permanent and the deck of cards is always being reshuffled. Schools wanting to move up likely will have multiple chances to do so in the future. Schools wanting to change affiliations will get their chance as well. UTEP needs to look at this as short term at best, take our shot and make ourselves as strong a candidate as possible for the next reshuffle. Change will happen and we can't play the victim in this. A few good seasons of football and basketball and we deal ourselves in the game, sit back blame and dwell on the past and we will always be cast aside.
Yeah, I forgot about that. The mwc would add them just for existing in Phoenix.
So, nevermind.
