A recap of last night's game.

Me or Bill Knight? for Knight's piece, go to EP Times website, mine is below:

The Trojan War included the Greeks hiding inside a gift in order to enter the city of Troy, much like a pack of Greyhounds hid inside their Eastern New Mexico uniforms and tried to steal a victory from the hometown Miners of UTEP.

The 1-3 Greyhounds from Portales gave the local cagers all they could handle, holding several leads until succumbing in the final decision by a score of 66-59, a victorious ending for the Miners.

Efe Odigie, who just seven years ago was learning to play in sixth grade, had what is referred to as a double-double (double digits in 2 categories of statistics), with 17 grand rebounds and 14 points. Evan Gilyard, who is a nary a designation of five feet 10 inches (that’s 2 inches shorter than 6 feet), included 29 points and 11 rebounds.

During the latter stages of the competition, Gilyard missed an easy layup, which is similar to a dunk-shot but includes gently laying the ball against the backboard to allow the ball to easily land through the basket.

A jovial Gilyard said his coaches shouted instructions for him to purposefully miss the layup while he was in mid-flight.

Head Men’s Coach Rodney Terry said “We've got to be the hardest working, scrappiest team in the country every night”

In other words, he expects his team to play as if their hair was on fire.

Newcomer Giles Dekoninck, who hails from Diest, Belgium played 8 minutes and pulled down a glorious 1 rebound.

Unlike the Greeks, the Greyhounds returned to their homeland in New Mexico, pondering their reasons for losing this battle in El Paso.

Putting his tired metaphors aside, the thing that is so lazy about Knight is he does ZERO reporting on opposing teams’ coaches or players or scheme.
