Under our new scheme, more than 1/3rd of our defensive players on the field will be LB's. We currently have 90 players listed on the roster, if half were offense and half were defense, then we should have 45 defensive players. For our scheme, we need 1/3rd of our defensive players to be LB's, and 1/3rd of 45 is exactly: 15.
It also makes sense that we still need to recruit more LB's since a couple of the current LB's are Walk-On's, a couple(Carlisle and Hayes) are DB's converted to LB's, and a few(Firstley, Montegut, Usher) are DE's converted to LB's. Plus as you mentioned, 8 of our current LB's are Upperclassmen.
