Yes. When we need to throw, he digs in and runs into brick walls. When we need go run, like most of the 2nd half yesterday, he inexplicably decides to exclusively throw. 3 and outs are harder to digest when you're getting blown out and you continually stop the clock with incomplete passes! For Christ's sake run the ball and burn the clock! Too many terrible coaching decisions to list. He needs to go. 0-12 is a real possibility folks.
Those running plays are awful. You could see what they were going to do from a mile away sending out one WR and having nothing but TEs on the line to go with a FB and TB. Even if UTEP managed to block everyone (which they can't because there were too many defenders) do they think you can get positive yardage running straight up the gut? There are too many people in such a small area that Dawn and Hughes are going to run into somebody be it a defender or their own blockers. These last 5 years have been a lesson in stubbornness and tactical inflexibility.
We all saw last year that Walter Dawn works wonders when you put him in space and let him run. But let's pound him up the gut vs 8 and 9 man fronts.

It's irritating because Kugler has spent the last five years trying to turn UTEP into this monster smash mouth football team. His MO is running the ball and wearing down the opposing defense with time of possession. Yet UTEP sits ranked 125 out of 130 teams in rushing with 116 total yards. And 118/130 in TOP. The only reason why we are not ranked dead last in rushing is because we have played three full games. The teams we are ahead of Florida, Florida St, Arkansas St and Georgia St have each played only one game. The other team Western Kentucky has played two. Yards per game we are ranked only ahead of one team.

UTEP has the perfect recipe for dreadful football:
1. A college president who simply doesn't care about the success of her athletic programs and who makes no demands or sets performance goals for her athletic director or his athletic programs.
2. An athletic director who is not accountable for his recent dreadful coaching decisions and whose loyalty is primarily with his coaches regardless of their performance. Sumlin at A&M was told prior to the season he must win now or risk being fired. Has this ever happened under Bob Dull? Nope. Instead He coddles and publicly defends a bunch of losers.
3. A terrible football coach, recruiter, game planner who is not accountable for the garbage he fields. A coach who would have been fired long ago at other schools is instead given a contract extension as a reward for one winning season from his friend, the AD.
Expectations and standards run low for UTEP athletics from the top on down. A complete lack of leadership and accountability is present at every leadership level within the athletic department . No person at UTEP ever seems to suffer any consequence for losing. They are allowed to retire when they want on their own terms, just like Bob Dull. It's time for fans to boycott this garbage of an athletic department until new blood at the leadership positions decide to take this athletics program in a different direction. Ive had enough.
