Are We On The Precipitous Of A UTEP Golden Era

This weekend we signed the most prestigious player in UTEP history to join our football team. Our team is coached by a very enthusiastic young coach who clearly loves our community and wants to succeed. Anyone who watched our football team this past season would have to agree things appeared to be clicking and getting on the right path on the late back-end of the schedule.
Our basketball team is 12-3 and face a very favorable conference schedule. 20 wins should be a walk and a conference title and NCAA tourney appearance look likely.
Soon we will be in the MWC something people on this board have begged and cried for years over. Our leadership (Senter, Golding, Walden) look strong and our future is looking very good.

I hope so. We all hope so.

Let’s not put the cart in front of the horse. 🐴 This is all the stats I can find on this guy. Not exactly eye popping to be sure. Let’s see how he can manage the offense come game time.

As far as basketball is concerned, we only have one quality win thus far (LaTech). Let’s wait and see what they accomplish in March.
I’m sure he’s going to work out fine. Regardless things seem to be moving in a good direction overall

BREAKING: Miners currently hosting a transfer QB and former five-star recruit

Let’s see what happens. These recruiting classes have to win the games in the fall or else these rankings mean nothing.

Personally I wouldn’t count Walden out just yet. Obviously the fundraising may be picking up with the Goldmine Collective so that’s a step in the right direction. Also, UTEP will be getting a nice financial boost with its impending move to the MWC. Could we see UTEP give Walden a hefty raise in order to keep him a little bit longer? Again this is all speculative, because if he wins 4 games it’s a non issue.

If that's the case then so be it. If (and that's a big if) we do well enough for Walden to leave next year, that means the standards will officially be raised here forever. Too many coaches have said that they can't recruit here. If Walden does a magical turnaround then that excuse must never be accepted again.
Walden has been able to assemble two back to back top CUSA recruiting classes at UTEP. Many coaches said that was not possible at UTEP and he’s proven them wrong. What’s remarkable about this is the fact that he did it with limited or no NIL money. What remains to be seen is how much improvement will we see this upcoming season. With the talent we have we should have a winning record, compete for conference title and get to a bowl game. If Walden does well, he deserves to move up to a bigger program.

He will probably come in and start and if he does we’ll head to a bigger program after the year is done along with Walden…. I think wall den has him as his ticket out …

New MWC Possibility:

Why reduced the capacity ? I do agree the DHC is completely outdated, two years ago I went to a concert at Ball Arena in Denver CO and WOW, I mean WOW that is a state of the art complex. There is just no comparison between DHC and Ball Arena in anyway possible. It’s like comparing Kiki Romero gimnasio in Juarez with DHC.
I was just referring to seats that are a bit larger, customer friendly with cup holders. It might take out a seat per row, nothing crazy.

New MWC Possibility:

Honestly, I think putting in better seats (a lot are broken) and reducing the capacity, is the way to go.
