UTEP at Kennesaw State

There you go….like a broken record with you
It was an apropos comment giving the situation. Can you think of a situation where the Miners overcame a double digit halftime deficit this season to win? If so, had been following the game on Digs at the time, that example would have been apropos as well. As it turned out, we didn't crumble, but we also didn't mount a successful comeback.

If you won a BILLION dollar lottery would you donate to UTEP?

Whenever Powerball or Mega Millions have climbed over a billion I've thought of how much I would donate to UTEP athletics to help get us to the upper echelon of college athletics. Like would five million help? Ten million? Fifty million? Five hundred million if the lottery was over a billion?

How much would you donate to UTEP if you won a BILLION dollar Powerball or Mega Millions lottery?
You certainly wouldn't donate $500M if you won a $1B lottery. If you took the lump sum, then paid the 37% tax, you'd be left with a little less than $300M. And yes, if I won I would donate some money to UTEP, but setting up my wife and I for life, giving money to my kids, and money to our families would come first. Then would come UTEP and some charities.

Can we stop pretending that this is a good team?

They were close last last year, when nobody thought they would go to the championship game. I really think there is a chance again this year.
I mean there’s always a chance, this team wasn’t getting an at large after the SJSu loss anyway. The problem is the lack of consistency - we can beat any team in conference on any given night, but we can also lose to any team on any given night. Can the team keep it together to win three or four straight? We haven’t won three straight in conference all season.

The Miners are now 7-6 in league play. By any definition that is a mediocre record, and we play in a mediocre league. We are nothing more than a mediocre team.

The worst part is that this is Golding's peak here at UTEP. Among his main rotation are five seniors, seniors that he's been able to keep here for multiple seasons, including our best player, Frazier (even if he didn't play like it tonight). If Golding stays he will have to rebuild the team, and he has proven incapable of bringing in the required number of contributors in a single recruiting year. It won't get any better than this while he's the coach, and this just isn't good enough. He obviously gets to coach until the last game of this season, but after that I hope that this misery ends and he's sent walking.

As for the next coach, since Hasins left we're 3 for 4 when hiring a hot shot assistant, on 0 for 3 when hiring a proven coach. Maybe we should go back to the previous formula.
This team will exceed 20 wins this season. Golding isn’t going anywhere so cry harder

They are an average team in a conference full of average teams. NMSU just beat JSU on the road. Liberty's probably the best on paper and the Miners beat them on the road. Golding will need these players focused and playing their best for the conference tourney. He needs to win it or I'm ready to move on; this team is too inconsistent.

Agreed. This is an average team. Not great, not mediocre, not bad. Just average.

Can we stop pretending that this is a good team?

Likely won't make a difference but I'm tempted to encourage us all to flood Senter's inbox demanding a change. Meh. I guess we should not do that. Nope. Don't email Senter. He doesn't care. He's here for a comfortable retirement. Our emails will make zero difference. None whatsoever. Let's not bother. It's not like a good coach is out there who can make this a winning program. That coach does not exist. It's only Senter's guys. So as much as it sounds cool to blast Senter's email it won't make a difference so let's just not do that.

Unless you have like a couple of million to fund the coaching change. Then by all means do that.

But nah. Let's just let Fools Golding keep us a middling program with zero chance to compete for conference championships or NCAA tournament appearances. Those are only things Fools Golding and Senter talk about but not things that they can actually make happen. So let's just continue to support a losing basketball program like we've always supported a losing football program.

Because that's all we deserve as UTEP fans.

You should go to the games and tell him in person.
