If Utep loses to Kennesaw State...

What happens if/when Shay and Pickles get hurt?? Who do they after them? That Tennessee game will be a suicide mission for whoever is QB. I feel sorry for them.
Why does Smith get the impossible game? I say give him nmsu.
I wanna see Smith against the best competition left. He has one game left and honestly I think Waldens plan was always to get him some reps against Tenn. Unfortunately Locklear got blown the f u c k up.

They won't win another game this season might as well see what the true freshmen can do. We'll see enough of Locklear when he's named stater next year.

I’m still wondering why we haven’t hung banners from our CBI tourney appearances. 🤡
After a loss in the 2013 CUSA tournament either Jon or someone else asked Floyd if they were going to continue the season or something like that. Floyd then responded with “UTEP only plays in tournaments that start with N”.

Very next season, they play in the CBI and lose to Fresno here. LMAO.

If you’ve ever wondered why UTEP schedules so many non D1 games, it’s to pad their record and create an illusion for casual fans. According to the NET which the NCAA uses to determine bids, we finished 15-16. We didn’t play any teams from the WCC, but some clueless fans believe UC Santa Barbara is part of it.
We actually did play LMU, of course we lost by 20 in front of 100 people, but we didn’t beat any “tough” WCC teams.

With 3 games left, Pickles starts two more games and Shay Smith should start 1 (Tennessee). I wanna see Smith play the entirety of the Tennessee game. No reason to play Locklear anymore this year.

Yup, it "Bronzing" year. It's been less than spectacular, the bar is very high for UTEP basketball and it should. Unlike football which goes wild over a first win over FIU, we look past wins over PAC 12 teams (and not on UTEP soil) and tough WCC squads. CUSA tourney title loss? For football that a major milestone, for UTEP basketball, that's failure......total failure. "Bronzing" has UCSB, Utah Valley, Seattle, Louisville, San Jose State, Tarleton State, solid WAC, west coast and ACC schools in tough mid major conferences; but damn you "Bronzing"!! You have UTPB and Jackson State, those don't deliver the tequila! Some east coast schools will not touch UTEP with a ten foot pole which has been explained for years....but damn you anyways "Bronzing!". At UNM exhibition loss that Pitino, Jr. had to take out the bench and use starters the remainder of 1st half and entire 2nd? Total failure. "Nothing done since '92".

So buckle up Minerfans, it's Monday but it's the start of the '24-'25 season. Get ready for "Mr. Crabs" Corona & "Ain't a thang since '92, what's your handle in '25?" Kanefane as they break down UTEP basketball all year long with their comparison and contrast analysis against would've, could've, should've stats and basketball events around the country.

Don't worry, Fili, 'citer and myself will provide the continuous social media posts that make you all go "hmmm?! What?!".
Here’s the thing that you don’t understand, the win vs Cal meant absolutely nothing. #1 because UTEP lost their next 5 games to D1 opponents and then finished 7-9 in CUSA. #2 Cal finished 13-19.

What WCC team did UTEP beat last year? Unless it’s Gonzaga or St Mary’s, nobody cares.

Making the CUSA championship and losing isn’t an accomplishment if your record is 18-16. Result is the same, no tournament, too many losses. It doesn’t negate the poor performances that happened during the season.

I believe him. If we can get past Jackson State, who had a net ranking of 300 last season, then a championship game at home against either Akron (ranked 108) or Yale (81) is totally within reach.

Quotes from Bronzeing

"We want to compete for championships," said head coach Joe Golding as he prepares for his fourth year at UTEP. "There's no question with so many guys back and the guys we've brought in, we want to compete for a championship."

"This is our best team depth-wise," Golding said. "It's easier to hold kids accountable when they aren't doing what they are supposed to do because there is so much competition. It will also allow us to play 10 or 11 guys."

"We returned some guys who can shoot the basketball and we've recruited some guys who can shoot the basketball," he said. "The guys coming back have worked on that - Corey Camper, David Terrell, Baylor Hebb, Otis Frazier, Trey Hornton. Trey's an elite shooter, we need him to shoot at a 40% clip, he's made a ton of improvement."

"Rebounding is our biggest concern, especially coming out of the exhibition," Golding said. "I've been worried about it all summer. We're going to have to be careful with our lineups. Sometimes we play lineups, and we are just small."

He’s confident the scoring will be there, worried about rebounding, and they’re going to compete for the championship. This will be his best team “depth wise”, which doesn’t even mean it’s his actual best team. Lol
