Recruiting would be the key element.Agree. However he was a helluva a floor general in college. He knew that game well, too. I guess it depends on whether he can recruit and or relate to the modern player.

Its better than Albuquerque.Nothing says luxury and paradise like Cincinnati, OH
C'mon some other Texas university. Save us from ourselves again!
I hope Golding gets hired away... but he's hasn't done anything to deserve another job, let alone a bigger job than UTEP.
Yeah, it’s possible he applied or someone just thought about him for the job, but yeah, UNT would be stupid to hire him. Their fans would be so pissed if it happensI hope Golding gets hired away... but he's hasn't done anything to deserve another job, let alone a bigger job than UTEP.
Go Joe, go!
Fvckn take him back Jared Mosley.
Go look up his contract and find outDoes Utep have a buyout for Golding?
Texas did us a favor 4 years ago, maybe UTEP will get lucky again.Fvckn take him back Jared Mosley.
We we're lucky that Terry left early. There's no way we get lucky twice.
There’s local businesses that can easily raise the $300K to buyout Fool’s Golding. The question is why? What’s in it for them? What has UTEP done to deserve such generosity? Is there an alum wealthy enough who cares about UTEP basketball who can buy bronzing out of his contract?
No. It does read weird tho. The writer should have said, "Really intrigued by the idea of Joe Golding ending up at North Texas", rather than "ended".
Can't you just let us live with the slim possibility of CJG leaving. Why do you need to pop that bubble?Look for North Texas to hire the Cleveland State coach, Daniyal Robinson.

And that’s assuming Senter didn’t extend him after that 15-5 start. His buyout could now be north of a million. And new the new question is, why would El Paso want to clean up such an expensive mistake on Senter’s part? There’s local businesses that can easily raise the $300K to buyout Fool’s Golding. Exactly. Another mistake. And that’s assuming Senter didn’t extend him after that 15-5 start. His buyout could now be north of a million. And new the new question is, why would El Paso want to clean up such an expensive mistake on Senter’s part?

We all have been saying this, better to bite the bullet and get rid of him now. Attendance will be awful next year, expectations and energy will be low, there’s no reason to keep him around. Unless he’s getting a group of ballers, which we all doubt, it’s going to be similar to this year.Golding's buyout is $350,000. Starting September 1, its $0 (start of final contract year). They could fire Golding for nothing on that date.
So if they do not sign Golding to an extension and he coaches out his final year, this time next year, UTEP will have a new Head Coach under contract and Golding will also be under contract until August 31, 2026 on a pro rated basis. Which will cost about the same as his buyout.
Might as well rip the band aid off now.
...but worse. Imagine a whole new team trying to learn that hedging defense, all trying to be in sync. Nah, it's gonna be bad.We all have been saying this, better to bite the bullet and get rid of him now. Each day that UTEP waits, is a day lost to improve the roster and get fans excited for 25-26. Senter is basically saying he has enough fans that don’t care about results and he’s going to do whatever he wants.
As much as I might believe that, I just can’t. Maybe he’s oblivious to the situation, but I don’t know why he would want to just collect a paycheck and be remembered as the worst AD ever, that everyone will be happy he’s gone. He’s only 63, he could position himself for another job. I just don’t get why he would go down with the ship, when he can try to right it....but worse. As far as Senter goes, I don't even think he thinks that. I get the sense HE just doesn't care. He's "probably" gone next year too and he's just riding it out. Collecting a paycheck watching shit go down the drain. He is the worst mistake UTEP has made....maybe ever.
I mean, I know what you’re saying. And for the reasons you mention, why isn’t he trying to right the ship?As much as I might believe that, I just can’t. This is spot on and the most likely scenario!my take is old Joe will be around for next year. However, we will see new assistance coaches coming in replacing the current "under appreciated"assistance coaches to bring in new ideas and styles, plus someone with recruiting power. In Senter's mind this will correct the wrong in the system and produce a winning season.
lets see how many assistant coaches go into the portal..
can a real Miner fan hear a big "hell Ya" from everyone?
