a what do you all think of his column in the Sunday paper?
I wrote him an email stating that he what’s nuts!
His outlook on Stull is very jaded.

There is some truth in what he says, but the problems are 1) Stull holding his coaches accountable to winning/keeping them too long and 2) using the attendance excuse over and over again. Those parts are what sicken most UTEP fans IMO.

I can see the arguments that he is making, Stull has made countless improvements during his tenure but to argue that the next AD (whoever it is) needs to follow his plan is ridiculous. Stull’s way of working is not the only way to be successful.

  • "This university needs to stay the course and continue the positive strides under Stull...:
  • "Stull has turned in a fine nearly two decades as the UTEP athletic director."
  • "He has also hired well. Every basketball coach to follow the legendary Don Haskins has had some measure of success — Jason Rabedeaux, Billy Gillispie, Doc Sadler, Tony Barbee and now Tim Floyd."
And my personal favorite:
  • "The Sean Kugler hire, for whatever reason, did not work. But everyone thought it was a good hire when it happened."
Knight pisses me off and I'm not even a UTEP fan. Is Kellyannn Conway guesting at the Times this week? Absolute journalistic malpractice.

. "There are literally a thousand candidates for this job. It has a long and sad history but there are a thousand coaches who would love to give it a try. Stull and Price proved it can happen."

We should have no problems finding a great coach with a pool of 1,000 applicants to choose from. Its is good to know because of Stull, UTEP is just as desirable as Alabama for a HC job in football.

Just hire the best qualified applicant regardless of whether or not they worked under the Greatest AD of All Time Bob Stull.

Bob Stull: “The University can not win without someone who has worked for me. That’s a terrific story and we have newspaper people on the payroll don’t we Diana? They might like a story like that.”
Natalicio: “They might, they just might.”

It’s amazing to me that people are calling for continuity when we’re winless with declining attendance.

Yet another tired “dance” metaphor.

Alabama knows how to dance in the rain. It should have been given the death penalty a few years back but some how avoided it. For teams like UTEP it's more like looking for a small pond water that hopefully doesn't dry up in few days in 100 degree heat.

The credit is not all Stull's, but some is. He got Diana to agree to his vision when he signed on. He had to go to her (and the board), not vice versa. My point is: They both did it. I now many on hear don't care for because she gives the impression she is not hearing UTEP fans outcry, but I think she is. Stull is messing it up with his pendejada comments about what boosters think.

I like you entire post, but this one comment just leaves me thinking....so why are you here? (you are VERY knowledgeable on UTEP sports, though)

Knight is an old putz. I know they haven't given him a raise in at least 15 years, but they won't push him out because no one else will come to a dying newspaper AND do it for the little he gets paid.
Follow him on twitter. He does throw out some zingers aimed at UTEP once in a while.

There are 1000's of coaches that would want this job. Heck, I want the job. But you know, you have to be qualified.
