You’re actually dead wrong. Your assumption is based on your apathy with Football and Basketball and they are not the same. You are correct about there not being enough local talent however, but that’s not how D1 teams are filled. There would be national and international recruiting. Based on Uteps proximity to MX and Soccer’s popularity in Latin countries Utep would be a prime landing spot for such talent unlike basketball and football. So no you are absolutely 100% wrong about them sucking like Basketball or Football!A bunch of guys spread out over different years and for arguments sake, we will assume they would choose UTEP over better colleges and pro contracts. Like the baseball player at UT is going to stay home at UTEP and lose 30 games a year.
There’s not enough high school talent in El Paso to make these teams competitive year in and year out.
Fans wouldn’t care and the teams would be horrible. UTEP should concentrate on making their poor football and basketball programs better instead of some saying we should add new ones.
Drop football and then add baseball and soccer, but those teams will suck just as bad as the football team.
I guess youre right and men’s soccer would be the only exception cuz of Mexico and the popularity in Latin America. Cuz god knows woman’s UTEP soccer is just as awful as any other sport we have. You’re actually dead wrong.
