Conference Scrabble Scramble

I was checking the team standings in the minor conferences - not the major conferences because it's a lost cause to consider the Miners ever reaching that plateau (although hope springs eternal if the Miners happen to go on gargantuan winning streak in football and basketball in the coming seasons). But staying with the minor conferences - there doesn't appear to be much room for UTEP to make a move to any conference except to the MWC if based on geography but everyone knows that the MWC doesn't want UTEP as part of that structure (it's downright comical that San Jose State is a member of the MWC yet UTEP isn't). Something's just not right with that equation - it almost smacks of blatant bigotry!

And yet looking elsewhere - where could UTEP play if not C-USA? The MVC? The American Athletic? The SWAC or WAC?
If you look at those conferences - with the exception of the MVC - those conferences are a geographic pile of caca (include the C-USA in that pile too as far as I'm concerned now). Originally, you had potential rivals in Houston, Tulsa, SMU, TCU but they bolted - good riddance. Would love to schedule some of them for OOC games if possible but I guess the money isn't worth it for either side.

I guess what I'm saying is UTEP is stuck with this current mess in the C-USA but it would be nice to pull the kind of crap BYU does by foresaking one conference and winding up in the West Coast Athletic. But I suppose those fortunes are always tied to money and a winning record.

You can blame Bob Stull he turned down the MWC twice thats why san jose state is in the MWC.

SJSU is in the bay area... They are close to many schools, if it was NMSU in the MWC then I would be in shock... At the time, who else was the MWC going to take?? Idaho?

Bob Stull's legacy will always be marred that he turned down the MWC

He lacked the vision to see where the dominoes were falling. Every school was out for themselves. The MWC threw us a carrot and we fed it to SJSU who's 0-16 and 2-26 overall. Yet, people from the MWC were saying they would deliver the Bay Area. They've delivered alright...a giant turd.
