It was because of Hakeem Olajuwn and the Phi Slamma Jamma that I discovered and fell in love with Miner basketball. Yes, they look like a team of destiny.

I used to root against all Texas teams in the tournament since our only claim to fame was “the only school in Texas to win a NCAA championship in men’s basketball” but since Baylor messed that up a few years ago I don’t mind seeing H-Town win one. We’ve beaten them the last two times we’ve played them by at least 10 points 💪🏽

Nah, actually, we lost by 20 or so last time we played them. They were coming off a great previous season and were on the way up. I was on a forum of theirs talking about how that UTEP team was different, after a good start to the season (sound familiar), and that the Miners would at the very least give them a good run for their money. Not so much. I think we were behind by as much as 25.

No, but I did like Clyde "The Glide" Drexler. Hakeem Olajuwon went from rookie creampuff to NBA legend after hard work and personal embarrassment from Darryl Dawkins. He made H.O. perfect his baseline and in the paint shot.

That started the downfall of Rodney Terry here

Sorry, I meant when we were in Conference USA together

I'm probably in the minority, but I'd rather the club stay as small as possible.

Great game, terrible finish for the Coogs. Still, great season for UH.

Florida's coach is young just like Billy Donovan was when they won 2 straight. Can they do it again with another young coach?

Yeah stride for stride until Boum ran his mouth. I remember that one.

The 5 point swing on the missed goaltend was rough, but not getting a shot off in the last 2 possessions was horrible. UH did make that banked 3 pointer though.
Yep, horrible game management. It was actually 3 possessions in a row. Just before Sharp’s first turnover in that sequence, Cryer tried to go to the hole along the baseline and had the ball stripped. No bueno.

This’ll eat at me for a minute.
