If Des Moines can host an opening round…

I always thought that Utep/NMSU should put money together and build a arena they can share. Build it by Wet n wild or by the Casino.

Only if you fly delta (2 a day though ATL) JetBlue, Sprit, Sun Country, Breaze…

United (IAH, DEN, ORD) AA (DFW, PHX, ORD, LAX) and Southwest DAL, PHX, LAX) have decent hub connections

Very true. Southwest is the best in my experience. I fly to/from the east coast without any problems.

Naw, it’s dumb. Good in theory, but not possible in 2023. Two separate state systems working together and sharing costs/revenue, not happening. Why have a Garth Brooks concert and share 50% of the revenue, when you can keep 100%?
Plus, JUTEP needs to attract far east El Paso.

No airport. Shit hole barn rodeo arena.
The Pan Am Center has a portable floor since it opened in the late '60s. The way it Is now they can pull it off the way the present rules are implemented. The lack of full service hotels are the problem (4 teams involved and media). The both times that was held in the 575 it was co- hosted by NMSU and UTEP. A lot of these teams charter now, commercial flights more problem for fans.

Plus the lighting is better. The DHC has terrible lighting.

Christ no. The two compete against each other for top acts and that's a good thing. The El Paso Times did a great article on how both arena's at UTEP and NMSU benefit EP/LC years back and it's pretty cut throat at times, but actually works out better for fans/the customer.

It would be complicated, but with neither city or college being able (or willing) to build a state of the arena, working outside the box has to be considered.
Of course it would be a nightmare with the two colleges wanting to be top dog, and then the two states legislature getting involved. It will never ever happen.
But it makes sense.
As far as people traveling from the east side, if the product is good people will drive from anywhere. Look at all the Cowboy fans that go to two or three games a year.
All Utep has to do is win, and a private company will run shuttles, just has to be demand.

They should build a sports complex/arena that they can share. One half of the court and complex says UTEP and the other side says NMSU. It's a brilliant idea. Denvernowins can only wish he could come up with better ideas than me.

Its brilliant idea. They could have restaurants, hotels and shops. They would get the CUSA tournament and other events. I dont think there is 2 others schools in the country that share sport facilities. High Schools in Texas do it why not Utep and NMSU??
