JC players signing now can attend in spring semester and go thru spring practice. Helps quite a bit.
So far, the big OL recruit has signed.

UTEP Football: Tanner Stallings officially signs with UTEP
Kugler has had his coordinators in place for a while now. He did state he wanted a lb (to assist Jones) and some d line. If Kugler runs next year program like he's been tight lipped about the football program this past painful season, I think UTEP can make it back to a lower tier bowl.
Just adding up the news from recruiting and coaching rumors, I think Kugler pulled a hiring coup and has brought in some high impact DC and OC Coordinators. For pete sake, UTEP went into Hutchinson JC and plucked their starting center in an area that is ground zero for juco football recruiting!

Yeah, Kansas St must have already filled its class. They usually get all the quality JC guys in Kansas.
Next year could be special. We return almost everyone. We only lose three key contributions Muskrave, Robertson Harris and Lee. Golden was suppised to be our leading receiver but injuries derailed his senior season. Alot of young kids got valuable experience this year. Even if Kugler had stood pat and brought back the coordinators, i think we would've won eight games. I think Kugler sees the potential next year, and hes going all in. The goal is double digit wins and a conference championship. That would have seemrd absurd after the fiu game, but with the experience returning and upgraded coordinators I dont its that far fetched.
It would be about time UTEP had a good team and I hope you're right but there are some teams on the schedule that will also be improved. NMSU actually improved as the season wore on and they have a lot of starters returning as well. Army lost a lot of close games and has quite a few starters coming back too. USM should be very good. All 3 of those teams come to UTEP so that's a positive. I know we like to count wins in advance but most games will be a fight even with an improved UTEP. Should be a fun season and hopefully with a lot of wins.
UTEP didn't have to defend that Rose III rb, but then again, NMSU didn't have to defend against Jones too. Army is so up and down you really can't expect what kind of Army team will show up on a Saturday? Isn't this Army's second return to the Sun Bowl since 88 when they barely lost to Alabama? I was at that game and remember Derrick Thomas from bama. The guy was a beast! USM is on the rise and will be contending for the CUSA crown for sure.
