That’s the only real correct answer and even then, once you understand that San Antonio is more desirable than El Paso, it’s not egregious. We’re only talking about the AAC too, which is mostly old CUSA members anyway.
You're probably to young to remember The Pony Express...the best players money could buy and they cleaned house with Dickerson and Craig.

I almost went with smu but not old enough to really remember those days. I went with UTSA. They stole our colors, our hand signal, our font (I think) and started way behind us only to find success and surpass us.
Definitely UTSA. They went from having to field a football team with walk-ons and Larry Coker to telling the PAC 12 no thanks we are good in the AAC.
They are a glimpse of what UTEP could be if El Paso was a different market, with really wealthy donors, corporate sponsors, and in the Texas triangle.
They have proven that football is the only thing that gets the needle moving in today's NCAA and it doesn't matter if your basketball team plays in a run down high school stadium.

“No thanks” only because the money doesn’t work in their favor and the “Pac12” doesn’t include USC, Arizona, Oregon and any of the good schools.
Tcu was just in the natty (although they obviously didn't belong) and Boise State is always uber successful and have basically the same color scheme. I would be most jealous of those two.
Damn, I remember those years well. We traded off with NMSU from year to year as the worst fb program in the nation. Talk about tradition!!
