Looking for free tickets to the game tonight

What kind of logic is that? We don't have a deal with ESPN. Bravo to that man that would rather use an illegal stream than give his money to ESPN.

Sound logic. If you ask for something free, that is “cheap”. Just because you don’t like ESPN, you think it’s okay to pirate their stream. ESPN employees a lot of people and if everyone pirated their stream, a lot of people would lose jobs. It costs like $20 for a month of Sling that has ESPN.

Roundsound doesn’t want to part with $20. He’s a cheapskate, but because it’s not me, he is not called one. Just pointing out the hypocrisy of it.

So basically you started this thread not to beg for free stuff but to troll?
Yes. Pointing out the hypocrites on the board. They’ll try and slice you up if you complain about ticket prices, but if you’re looking for a pirated stream for the game or boxing fights, that’s “different”.

Well, it is different.

If you beg for free tickets, the money for those tickets directly support the university. If I want someone to hook me up with an ESPN+ stream (not that I personally would), it in no way impacts the school and you're just sticking it to ESPN.

I can't imagine the mindset of creating a post just to troll your own fan page. Remarkable.

Wait, how does that NOT impact UTEP? If ESPN sees that absolutely NONE of their paying customers tuned into the UTEP game they could stop carrying UTEP games. I don't know the technology behind capturing statistics on streaming services but in the year of our "lord" 2021 you know ESPN knows or at least has an idea of how many people are stealing their service. You cannot blindly say that stealing ESPN service has no impact on UTEP when the stolen service is used by UTEP fans.

I would venture a guess that the impact on UTEP is negligible, especially considering the lack of TV games they already play and the media and the fact that TV deals are negotiated as a conference.

I mean, if I buy two $40 tickets for a UTEP football game, that's $80 bucks for the school. Say half of that goes to ticketing fees, still $40 right from my pocket to UTEP.

Say I actually pay 5 bucks a month for ESPN+ and watch 4 or 5 UTEP football or basketball games a year on it. How much of my $60 goes to UTEP? None. How much is my viewership of those games worth to ESPN and in turn to UTEP with their conference wide TV deal? None.

I'm not condoning illegal streaming and don't do it, but one path puts cold hard cash in the schools pocket instantly, the other has a minimal effect on the school. They're not even close to the same.
