Matt Wilmms...

Yes, a few of us had a conversation when Willms was scheduled to have his surgery. We were wondering why in the hell they waited so long to put him under the knife when he was injured in November and didn't have surgery until February. Still perplexed by wasting two months of healing time.

Two months? As I recall, his foot was initially injured last season!

Yeah, it was initially injured last year. Not sure if during last season, or in the off season, tho. It was decided, before this season even began, that Willms was going to have surgery on his foot whether it be at season's end or sooner. MW talked Floyd into letting him start the season and play until he felt sufficient pain in the foot. Then his season would be over, and foot surgery would follow. Well that happened back in November. All I'm wondering is why they waited until Feb to do surgery. Doesn't make much sense.

I believe its the same injury thats causedJoel Embid to miss two full seasons in the NBA. This injury has ended the careers of several seven footers. Its was a complex surgery, I think he had it done by world renown surgeon James Andrews in Birmingham. Im sure thats what the delay was he couldnt get in right away. I just hope this doesnt affect Matts quality of life. I dont look for him to play again at UTEP. I hope he recovers and gets his degree.

Thanks for the info. Probably helps having the surgery done by a world renown doc.

As for it being the same injury as Embid, it's important to know that more people recover to full form from that injury than don't recover. While it can be a pesky injury, we tend to hear about the guys who don't recover, or experience set back after set back. I'm hopeful that Willms will be back in uniform.
