It's a NET Quad 2 win. If Liberty were ranked 1 spot higher (75 instead of 76) it would be a Quad 1 win. It's a nice win however you want to frame it.

UTEP is in the mid-100s. It doesn’t matter. Only the CUSA tournament matters now.
UTEP isn't going to get an at-large bid, but it's still a quality win by the metrics the NCAA uses. I don't see the reason to downplay it.

The team displayed grit, resolve, and determination when it mattered most. Yes, Kane, I know this wasn’t Chaminade taking down Virginia, and I know UTEP isn’t in the ACC fresh off a win at Duke. But in our corner of the world, UTEP is what we have—and they are our team.
Last night’s victory in a place historically difficult to win was impressive. My respect and congratulations go out to the coaching staff and the players for a job well done.

Golding mentioned wanting to get Hebb more minutes on his show. Thomas was on the bench last night. Also, Golding's decision to go with Bynum versus Barnes down the stretch was also a change, and that paid off nicely this time around. It didn't hurt that Cleveland tried to foul Terrell prior to Bynum's last second basket. I guess he wasn't aware that the game was tied, and ended up helping free up Bynum on his shot.
Reading the various posts late last night and this morning, I'm sorry I had to miss this game. Sounds like it was a good one!
