Middle Tennessee just knocked off MSU, 90-81

And UAB got their arse handed to them in the NIT. Up and down year conference wise, but weak overall. Glad MTSU scored an upset. Upset of Baylor was the cherry on top for me.

Kermit Davis had a great game plan and his team executed it perfectly.
The top 5 need to beat some people out of conference. Nobody really did this year. But yes, normally the top five in our conference are pretty dang good.

2 down, 1 to go.

Oops, never mind, forgot about a and m and Stephen Austin.

Didn't see this one coming....I gave MTSU "0" chance, isn't this like the 40th year one of the Big 10 stars goes down in the first round, seems like an annual tradition.

First of all congratulations to Middle Ten. One of the biggest upset in history.

Kermit is a Floyd disciple. MT stuck with him through thick and thin. It took him 11 years to get his first at large bid in MT and 14 years until he finally won the conference tournament and the autobid.

We just need to be a little bit more patient with Floyd. We are a few short years away from reaping the rewards.

It would be nice for the top teams to get some big OOC wins. We didn't this year, and hopefully it was just the statistical outlier and not the new norm. But, the conference has had some big wins in the recent past. Last year, ODU had a few and even UTEP had one against Xavier.

As has been said above, the biggest issue with the conference is that you can pencil in less than ten wins and a 250+ RPI for 5-6 teams year in and year out. Not to name names, but UNT, UTSA, FAU, USM, FIU, Rice. That's killing the conference right now. ODU was left out last year because they lost a couple of the bottom tier teams on the road (which happens in every conference but is only held against the have nots). Will it get better? Hopefully. Rice should be significantly better next year, but I think everyone has been saying that over the last few years. USM is going to be NCAA infractions hell for the foreseeable future. And, depending on what happens at WKU, we might have another team in a similar situation. We'll see if any of the others are able to step up, but I'm not all that confident in it.
