Mixed feelings...

On one hand, I hated how we played the entire first half. I don't understand why Artis EVER plays. I don't get how bad our defense is overall. And WHY oh WHY when we are running our half court offense our guys just seem content on jacking up a three instead of driving to the basket? Furthermore, why wasn't Winn playing more?

But...I LOVED the fire and no quit the guys had tonight. The team got pumped and were all jumping around. The full court defense really seems to be something we need to continue to do. I think we have enough players to play it the whole game. It caused havoc and got our running game going.

For the record, Lee Moore should NEVER come out.

I still don't see any disconnect between Floyd and the players. I see a real bonding even though we still suck.

I also liked the effort at the end of the game. That's the kind of effort the Miner women give every game. Coach Johnson also mentioned that they may look at using the full court defense with a four guard lineup. Lastly, I agree with Tortuga that Lee Moore should never come out unless he needs a breather. Today he was playing his game and it was great to see.

Once again we proved that we're one of if not the best playing down 20 in the second half teams in the country. At this point, we're probably fighting for a #1 seed in the Playing Down 20 With 10 Minutes To Go Tournament this March. We're going to be a force to be reckoned with.

And, if it's taken 2 and a half months of watching stale half court offense and at best indifferent half court defense to figure out that this team may not be cut out to play half court basketball, that's a pretty bad indictment on the coaching staff.
